Hi folks, I have Advance Parole from TPS. I want to visit India for pilgrimage (2 weeks). I don't plan visiting Nepal. I am not an asylee nor ever applied asylum. Now, can i just buy tickets to India and go to airport directly, or do i need to get an Indian visa? I hold a Nepalese MRP passport. Please give me suggestions. Thank you!

@instagram,
Even if I am traveling from USA? How sure are you about it? I also looked indian immigration site and it says this: which reflects what you said is true. But what confused me is the ckgs company rep. who was assigned by indian consulate to process visa applications, told me I would need a visa if i am traveling from USA. He said Visa is not required only if I was traveling India from Nepal. I don't want any hassle at the airports so, should i just get a visa? Or where can i find a concrete official answer?
Nepalese Passengers
IDENTITY DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR NEPALESE CITIZEN :
I. A citizen of Nepal entering India by land or air does not require a passport or Visa for entry in India.
II. A citizen of Nepal while traveling by air between Nepal and India is required to be in possession of any of the following identity documents to establish his/her identity as a Nepalese citizen:-
Nepalese Passport.
Nepalese Citizenship Certificate.
Voter’s Identification Card issued by the Election Commission of Nepal.
Limited Validity photo-identity certificate issued by Nepalese Missions in India when deemed necessary.
For children between age group of 10-18, photo ID issued by the Principal of the School, if accompanied by parents having valid travel documents. No such document is required for children below the age group of 10 years.
III. A citizen of Nepal must be in possession of a Passport when entering India from a place other than Nepal.
IV. A citizen of Nepal must have a Passport and Visa for India if he/she is entering India from China.

No visa is required for Nepalese citizen to go to India from USA. Trust me, speaking of experience. Isn't the last underlined statement of what you have posted the official concrete answer? It says passport is good enough to enter India from a place other than Nepal and you do have a passport. You need visa only if you are entering India from China.

Thanks ark, I was almost sure that I would not need a visa but I wanted to confirm so I called the consulate. The consulate told me to call ckgs. The rep told me otherwise so I posted in sajha to get real experiences. So the airliner while departing from USA, would let be board without any hassles right? How do they know who needs a visa and who doesn't for their destination? Will they be like, 'oh you are a nepalese citizen, you are going to india, where is your indian visa'?

I went to India last yr with Nepali passport and had zero issue, they give you entry stamp without visa. Lets say if you are travelling around the world and India is your last destination, there is no way you would run to get Indian Visa. It depends on the passport you hold not the country you came from.

Thanks bhetghat! Would it be an issue while traveling back to the US with advance parole from India?

You are welcome. About returning,I can't answer since I didn't travel in Advanced parole. If I find someone who did, I will definitely reply to this thread with an answer. Hopefully, someone in Sajha who can relate will find your concern.
