once u get PR, you become eligible for medicare (funded by the government). every Aust permanent resident/citizen has one. that means you dont need a job/ company to sponsor your and your family's health insurance. but if you wish to have private coverage in addition, theres plenty for you to choose.

public transport is fantastic, at least in sydney! theres the trains, buses, cabs, ferries all at your disposal. and it is quite cheap. and they run around the clock.

i am not sure about social security and all..maybe someone can shed some light on this.

Can anyone tell me about the job market in Australia? I am looking for an analog/digital circuit design position here in USA. I have submitted more than 100 resumes online by now. I haven't gotten a single reply. If there are more opportunities in electrical engineering (esp in semiconductor) field I am willing to move to Australia. Can anyone help me with information?

in selection USA or Australia

USA always has problem with Wild fire, earth quake, Tornado, Floding, Hurricans.

Australia has problem with Wild Fire, Hot tempreture and Hurricans, too.

Come on guys, AUS is crap...... everyone their works menial jobs, get out of the cities and there is lots of racisits.

Everything is expensive even if you make 15 Aus Dollars a hour, it cost arm and leg to buy food etc.

Asians are considered second class citizens , whores of the whites. Wake up all....Aus ....I been there really sucks....dry dust bowl , where snakes are not only in the sand but in the neighboring houses...

Good day mate...

Everyone who puts down the USA doesn't have the competative edge to surive in the USA.

I Object About this Comment About Asian is second Class citizen here in Australia. There are so many jobs Asian are doing Well. I Know If U are student , It is hard for couple of months but later on It willl changes your condition.

Look, I Born in one of Village in Nepal. I was Studying in goverment college in Nepal. My Academic background is not as great other guys. But I come here And study hard and finished my degree in business. Now I got My Australian Residence and I work for One of big Bank in Nepal. I work as assistant manager in one of branch. It doest not mean that U are second class citizen. I got 10 juniors staff they all white Aussie.

This is my personal view I loved Australia coz nice and lovely weather and feel like home. I was in USA for 6 months I did not like it, coz American life is so vast and so Individual Oriented. I feel there Nepali is reallly doing very minimal jobs. I met heaps of New DV Visa and student they are working for 5 bucks.

Even I was in europe in two years ago for three months, Life of Nepali people is reallly bad . I met one guy in holland, He told me He was goverment Officer in Nepal. He told me he prefer to work in pub and cleaning floor and mopping the toilet is far better than what he used to works. So many People have very bad condition in gremany, Belgium, sweden and other countries.

Any way, I donot mean that Australia is the best than Nepal, But compare to other place it is better to live

Hi everyone! do you know "Mother and motherland are greater than Heaven". You won't get peace until you return your motherland. You know, for my staying in US I have everything that I didn't even expect back home (car, money, job, college, GC is being on process, thousand of loan and credit offer). I know, I won't get the same facilities which I am using in USA. But, I still feel like I need to go back home just because of not being as a Paradesi(lahure or unknown person to my Himal, pahad, tari, Ktm Valley, purba mechi to pachim mahakali.....dashain, tihar,,, tij, and other Nepali traditions.....as well as reunion of relatives and family). you could say, we are not LAHURE, but I would say those people being called as GORKH are not only LAHURE.

I believe, like US, UK or Canada, Australia has its pluses and minuses.

Racism exists everywhere, even back in Nepal (try living as a dalit or indigineous for few weeks and you will know). It's how you handle it and how systematic it is. In Australia's case, it is as open to Immigrants from all backgrounds as it can be. And the people are in general quite welcoming. It is a wonderful place, not only to visit but also to make one's home.

BTW, for those who think Asians are considered second class citizens in Australia, that is not true. You perceive what you believe. Here is a newspaper clipping of a young Nepali-Australian man in Deniliquin (a rural town, two hours from Melbourne) who won the Youth of the Year award. Do you think he considers himself a second class Australian? I think NOT!

it's ok to be considered second class citizen in the Aus... let's see where Nepali fall in usa..
1) White European originated Americans
2) White immigrants with accents like Russians or spanish from spain.
3)Indians- from india.
4)Afro Americans
5)Asian Americans
6)Hispanics
7)Blacks with accent
8) Mexicans who were not born here
9)Asians not born here.
10) Any dark skins who are not mexicans, like Nepali, Paki, Afgani, etc
number 10 has a burden of proof to convinience people that they are not harmful. You have to prove to the ignorants that Nepali is not in middle east but in Asia.
Competitive edge my arse.. i've seen engineers with 3 years expirence , who graduated with 3.9 gpa coming back to school to maintain status. Now a days companies don't sponsor for H1bs, even if they sponsor they don't sponsor for residency. ahaha.. good luck with 6 years of H1 slavery. Also, not all of us are rocket sceintist.
what competitive edge. graduates from universities here can't find jobs, found jobs then paper issue... what a bullshit...

oh ya.. and even if miracle happens and company sponsors for your green card. for 5 years you can't bring a wife.. either get marry with a fatty patty here , or wait till you're around 35 to go make yourself available in Nepali marriage market when most girls would be taken by PRs of Aus and Canada cuz they can bring thier wives.. haha...

Only in the usa , US graduate engeneers can't have competitive advantage in terms of residency in compare to the fresh out of the boat DV winner who can't speak english.

If life in Aus is better than US than why is it that soo many nepali students comes to US from Aus while non of them wants to go to Aus from US( not that I've heard of) even it is easy to get PR in AUS. Hey, even in the DV winner list there are some Aussie.

Just because of the things u guys talkin doesnot make life "easier" as mentioned earlier. it all depends on what your condition is..what are you doing ...I guess life is equally easier you u can make it through anywhere...nothin is comparable...
after all life is not a easy journey.
