Newsletter Week 9

Week 9 for the first time saw new teams at the top as well at the bottom of the standing. iNcoGnIto_KaNChi secured a very much deserving top position with a convincing over former leader hukka_nepali. On the contrary, hoop2hoop has become the new team at the bottom of the standing by losing the series against KTM_Wolves, who previously held that spot.

Week 9 also saw some "mid-size" trades and pickups from free agency. Listed below are few notable ones:

C. Mobley traded from Lakers4ever to Bandipure Newaz for T. Murphy. This trade made sense for both team as their numbers were virtually the same. Murphy will give Lakers4ever much needed rebounding help and Mobley should help Bandipure Newaz fill up SG position which he desperately need. Murphy's production should continue to be the same, where as Mobley's might go down in the near future after the return of C. Maggette in the Clippers lineup.

M. Finley was traded from KTM_Wolves to hukka_nepali for A. Walker. This was the first deal made by KTM_Wolves, which should be look as a healthy sign by the managers trying to lift his team which has been at the bottom of the standing much of the season. Players involved in the trade are role players from two of the top teams in the league. It has the potential to be beneficial for both teams involved in the trade, but should this be a bust deal, it is not going to break your season. More teams should be looking to make trades of such kind as it gives you something new and different look to your lineup and make it more fun to be a part of.

From The Free Agency:

A. Stoudemire was picked up by Bandipure Newaz in a move that caught everyone by surprise and discomfort. Although Stoudemire is close to 2 months away from playing, it was a great pick up nevertheless. One problem, Bandipure's roster already had 2 injured players, M. Camby and C. Boozer. Going 3 men down for more than a month could be digging a hole too deep to overcome.

D. Miles was picked up by Kathmandu Hammers in another unpredictable move. Miles was having a career season before being injured. It is doubtful the Blazers are in any kind of rush to bring Miles back to their roster. This pick up isn't as deadly of a move as one made by Newaz earlier but it will impact in winning a close game vs. losing it.

T. Battie was picked up by HandigaonJatras. Battie is have a solid season and any managers in need of a Center should have locked him up a long time ago. Great addition by HandigaonJatras.

Ke. Thomas was picked up by hukka_nepali. Sac lost S. Abdur-Rahim to injury which would mean more minutes and starting position for Thomas. First game as a starter, he scored 28 points in 38 minutes. Should be productive pick up for short period of time.

TOP 5 TEAMS OF THE WEEK

5. Flash This is the team to look out for as we go deeper into the season. Return of Shaq has helped Wade, as his numbers continue to go up. Injury prone Carter has not showed any sign of slowdown. Griffin has been a pleasent surprise since being in the Timberwolves starting lineup. Unless hit by major injury bug, I expect this team to be making a serious push for a playoff spot by the end of season.

4. HandigaonJatras A tough win against one of the better teams of the league so far, KTM Hammers. Although Jatras didn't win the big category like points, rebounds, and assists, he shows that you can still win if you have a balanced team. This team has been consistent for the most part of the season, and I expect it to do so in the coming weeks ahead. Pick up of S. Jasikevicius & T. Battie along with healthy E. Boykins, M. Ginobili, and E. Okafor is going to give team that boost to compete for top 3 teams by the end of the season.

3. Nepali Celtics He is doing a lot less talking these days and letting the records speak for themsleves. After starting the season with a lot of injury problems, with much patience and calcuated moves he was able to climb up the standing ladder. A great 8-1 win last week against Newaz. With always so versatile Garnett and with players like Davis & Okur having a career season, I expect this team to be competing for the No.1 spot when it's all said and done. Still worried about Maggette & Stojakovic and their ongoing injuries but this team is experienced enough to overcome such advertises.

2. KG4MVP Only .5 games differentiating between him and the top team in the league, so could very well argue for being the best team in the league. Great win last week againt up and coming Lazimpat Kings. Less minutes by A. Mourning & J. Przybilla has hurt this team a little but MVP type season by G. Arenas and solid performance so far by Webber and Parker has made this team very consistent over the past several weeks. Should be right there as far as standing goes by the end of the season.

1. iNcoGnIto_KaNChi What a win it was for her team!! Beating former No. 1 with a convincing 7-1-1 score. One of the most balanced roster in the league. Anyone who thought why was S. Marion O-ranked no.3, now knows why he is currently ranked no.1. Staying injury free most of the season has helped along with calculated moves made during the season. I expect this team to hold off the no.1 spot for the weeks ahead.

FOOT NOTES
KTM_Wolves won last week that moved him from 12 to 9th spot.

Matchup up of the week for Week 10: HandigaonJatras Vs. Lazimpat Kings

Great analysis, Hukka.
I suppose you are engineering a trade after two back to back losses, let me know should you need the services of any of my player, they are always available for the right price :-)

Hukka,
Very very impressive. Good idea on cutting short the list of rankings, although I thought rankings were not necessary on weekly newsletter, it was a good read. Great analysis ofcourse.

Good picking on the trades. Actually I picked Darius Miles out of frustration. I was tracking Amare Stoudemire and Miles every day. I knew Amare wasn't ready to play for atleast 6 weeks to 2 months. Miles' surgery went bad and he had infection that is why he is still out. But when I saw Stoudemire being picked up, I thought another manager might pick Miles up w/o getting enough scoop, so I picked him up right after. It's over now, I have to get over the fact that Amare was in my roster and is no longer gonna be there.

One unfair fact though. How come YOU aren't ranked in top 5?? You gotta be fair now, even to yourself, dude.

Thanks kg4mvp. i am indeed trying to construct a trade but sorry to say mate, your team isn't in consideration :p it would have but not for this one i am thinking of...you might see if it ever makes through :-)

thanks DWI too for your kind words. i thought i would try something different from what you did last week. yours was more like a newsletter for the first 25 games or 1/4 into the season, mine was only for last week. i thought if we are going to publish newsletter on a weekly basis, we should do the rankings for the past week. that's why you didn't see my team in last week's top 5 because it simply didn't perform like one :p

well lets see who wants take on this fun task for next week. don't have to be like mine or DWI's...so be creative and make if fun for yourself and us to read :-)

Weekly Newsletter for Week 10(Rankings solely based on performance of last week)

1.Incognito Kanchi
Incognito Kanchi maintained her winning ways, had monstrous rebounding numbers aided by Shawn Marion and Ben Wallace. Probably the hottest team in the league alongside KG4MVP.
This week’s Forecast(6-3 against Celtics)

2.Hukka_Nepali
Hukka_Nepali had a much_to_cheer_for kind of win after two rare losing weeks before this. Not only he got back into winning ways, he stopped Celtics win streak in the process. Yao Ming seems to be long ways away from recovery but that’s not hampering this team’s chances that much.
THis week’s forecast(6-2 against HooptoHoop)

3.KG4MVP
Continued his impressive winning streak to stay close to Kanchi at the top. Injury to Jamal Crawford was vital as he lost a close battle for the 3 point category.
This week’s forecast(4-5 against Lakers4ever) Upset of the week.

4.Handigaojatras
Had a really good week against a tough opponent in Lazimpat Kings. Result would have been that much sweeter had he won 8-1 by taking the other 2 tied categories.
This week’s forecast(4-5 against Flash)

5.Bandipure Newaz
Bandipure Newaz got just what he needed, even with all the injuries on his roster, he was able to stop the losing streak and jump back into 5th place from 9th. But the injuries are definitely having its effects on the overall stats and unless there are some major player movements, this team could slide down again.
This week’s forecast(6-3 against KTM Hammers)

6.KTM Wolves
After residing at the bottom of the table for so many weeks, Wolves finally got some wins to show for. Won against a good opponent in KTM Hammers and slowly climbing up the ladder.
This week’s forecast(5-3 against Lazimpat Kings)

7.Kathmandu Hammers
Hammers would have expected better result that 4-5 loss, but the loss of McGrady and Hughes seem to be a lot bigger concern right now. This week’s matchup with another equally injured squad of Bandipure should be interesting.
This week’s forecast(3-6 against Bandipure Newaz)

8.Lakers4ever
Lakers4ever had one of his better weeks statistically, but unfortunately his matchup with powerhouse like that of Kanchi proved costly. Performing far better than average in most categories helped him from going down 2-7 or worse.
This week’s forecast(5-4 against KG4MVP)

9.Flash
His inconsistent performance week in week out continues, following an impressive earlier week with a 3-6 loss. Could have been 2-7 if not for some sharp 3 point shooting by Radmanovic. Hoping to follow the trend and bag a good win this week.
This week’s forecast(5-4 against Handigaojatras)

10.Nepali Celtics
Celtics had a hopelessly bad overall performance by his squad in general. Scoring below average on 7 of the 9 categories, did well to go down only 3-6. The injury of Richard Jefferson didn’t help either. After a good streak for the last few weeks, he can only hope this loss won’t be another losing trend like before and Jefferson wont be out for long, but the players need to perform up to their potential for future success
This week’s forecast(3-6 against Incognito Kanchi)

11.Lazimpat Kings
Kings had a tough week against Handigaojatras, could have managed a 3-6 if not for the two tied categories. Still, peforming way below average in major categories is a concern for future matchups.
This week’s forecast(3-5 against KTM Wolves)

12.HooptoHoop
HooptoHoop continued his disappointing streak and his careless management of the players(sorry if I sound harsh), gave away the rebound category to the opponent due to benching of wrong players. Next week seems to a bleak prospect as well going against Hukka_Nepali, maybe a upcoming trade for Gasol will find a way to reenergize this team.
This week’s forecast(2-6 against Hukka Nepali)

Cheuko Note: Why can’t you guys have easy and short enough names like THUD or FLASH?

Awesome work Flash!! It gets better every week...I liked the idea about prediction. I think you might be right on mine atleast.

Funny side note. I agree with you while I stand as the culprit myself on the name thing.

Wow guys, we have like 12 teams with 11 males and only one girl and she is giving us some ass whopping. Kudos to Kanchi baini.

Great job unknown aka THUD / Flash mitra :p

I too like the idea of prediction for the week. Your analysis were fantastic as you included all 12 teams and I am sure it must have took you a lot of time. Agree with your ranking for the most part, except for I should have been ranked no.1 hehe nahhh just kidding. Probably KG4MVP should have been no.2 but ah well, it was a close week for all 3 top teams in the standing.

Thanksssss!!

:-)

Man, you are definitely harsh on my team, the one which hasn't lost a series in the last 6 weeks, k ho last week harayeko le sarapeko jasto cha ni :-)

But I agree, I might have an uphill battle this week and would be tough to keep my streak going especially with Crawford, Wells, Webber and Martin out.

Great observations about all the teams.

KG Bro
I know urs is one of the hottest team in the league, i think i mentioned that in Kanchi's analysis, but the rankings was solely based on last week's performance, and about next week's prediction, well about that i just predicted on a hunch, all good things come to end don't they :)

great job unkown.... i like the idea of prediction for next week and thanx for being generous about my team :=) I have 4 STUDs (Camby, Amare, Paul and Boozer) on IR and I am still favor to win against one of the good team in the league??? What's going to happen when all of them come back next week :=)

aakash bro, it seems losses getting on you, kata kanchi sis lai him bhani rako :p:p I am impresses with kaanchi sis sports knowledge....

good luck hoop2hoop bro... it nice doing business with ya :D:D I am sure paul Gasol will give ya lots points and rebounds that you needed.

minor deal anyone??? K. Thomas and M. Sweetney are avail :=)

KTM Hammers, both of our teams are banged up badly. I think you will come out as a victor 6-3 this week. I am sure I am going to loose FG% and Turnover for sure and w/o camby I am going to Block category as well and i never had good stat on 3 pointers... that's 4 categories and other 2 categories that you can win are assists and FT% deptl..... Can't wish you GL this time tho :=)
