No , i don't think king can combat anybody. It is the army who are loyal to king would but now they should be loyal to democratic govt. That will take couple of years.
The reason is simple with king being there no president. There would be balance of power between democratic forces and maoist(non democratic ).king is just a symbol.

well
no president does NOT guarantee balance of power anyways. if there is no president and the king is ceremonial then it implies that the PM and his cabinet has the share of major power. and NO president does not necessarily have to draw maoists to be more lenient, nope!!

your argument sounds weak to me. i thought you just want the king to be there because our traditions have always taught us to worship the demi god, be it birendra, gyane or paras.

Argument can be stong or weak .Its from which point of view you are looking at.Yes,
No President doesn't gurantee balance of power but gaurantees the structure of politics same. When u do not know .how and what President should get?.how can you say that?
well at least we know now parliament is more powerful than king or maoist. And it should be like that. No, i just want king to be there to avoid unnecessary powervaccum.I do not intend to worship him.To avoid more chaos in Nepalese politics in coming days it might be the best solution. If our leaders and vision and ability they can develop Nepal with or without king .The king doesnot need to be in the picture or should be involved in active politics.
It is not as easy as you think to remove king.king is not as bad as you think .He is just as corrupted as any leaders in Nepal.don't compare money compare moral.

well everyone is entitled to their opinion so i welcome you on that front. i have always thought that social differences is the crux problem as far as nepal is concerned. the differences that we have in our society is unbelievably tremendous. monarchy is the first institution that depicts that differences. who the fc-uk is to decide that we have to be ruled by them, huh? r we their slaves or what?

there is nothing wrong with british kinda ceremonial monarchy. but i have a big doubt that's gonna happen in nepal. reason is:

1) no matter which kinda monarchy exists in nepal, ceremonial, absolute, constitutional---the palace has a LONG queue of followers that vary from ranas, shahs and other a$-$lickers who have this strong HOLD in the political infrastructure of nepal and they will make sure that king's dominance is maintained albeit in various degrees depending upon time and condition which prevail in the country.

2) the leaders starting from GPK and NC and others too have this SOFT CORNER for the freaking king ALAWAYS. remember deuwa just lately saying "we are happy if the king is there as a cermonial figure"....i cannot believe it, its the same freaking DEUBA who was outwitted and thrashed by the KING in more than couple of occasions.

3) Maoists may threat to go back to the jungle if the parties and people decide on keeping the palace intact. its less unlikely but a possibility nevertheless.

So my friend IMI, i dont want the political architecture of nepal to become too complex. i hope it will simplify with the removal of KG and the monarchy

My only concern is While making Nepal's political struture more simple as you said by removing king .There might not be any political structure left. There might be one man rule again - the new one that would be maoist president .Like Mao.

you are against one man thing , but watch if this one man succeeds there will be no another man.
So not to complicate the situation any more and to kick out these maoist dreams we should accept ceremonial monarchy as for now. There are so many ceremonial monarchs in the world .so why do we need to kick this guy out ?I would love if maoist were not there and nepalese people would kick this guy out.

See the situation is complicated by maoist.Themself with their attitude and mission.

Some people are thinking that once NEpal becomes repulic the problem will be over.
But in my opinion that will be the beginning of the new problem. The present political context clearly depicts the real winner is Maoists. They are adamant to their every demands and day by day the government is trying to fulfill them although Maoists are continuing their every misdeeds like collecting money illegally, torturing innocent people etc. The only demand left is rupublic NEpal. If this demand also comes in favour of Maoists at this moment Nepal will not be far from becoming the communist nation.

Maoists still beleive that Nepal should be a communist state. This is real threat to every NEpalese and the whole world. Imagine the future of NEpal once it becomes a communist state. Isolated from the rest of the world and even the simplest means of communication like international telephone or internet will be the dream for every NEpalese. We Nepali have a habit of realising once the things really becomes worse.

Whats wrong keeping the parliament controlled monarchy as a symbol of Nepal which would help Nepal to stand high against a communist nation?

Do you people who are enjoyig the real beauty of democray far away from NEpal can accept Nepal be the communist state? Or you are just ill mided, who could enjoy your brothers and sisters suffering?

So why not lobbying in support of ceremonial monarchy to save NEpal against becoming the deadly communist state which could extend the problem for another 237 yrs?

I totally agree with you panas. There are lots of people residing outside the country who want this Maoists to get the power, at least I know handful of them where I am residing. I don't understand why they get so much into politics and such and still reside outside the country...whey don't they go back to Nepal and suffer what the oridinary people are suffering right now.

People Get it right now in this your Mind :

ALL COMMIES ARE SAME,THERE INTENTION ARE SAME,UML,MAOIST, MAAJUDUR KISAN .ETC ETC ARE ALL BROTHERS .THEY WILL ENJOY WHEN THEIR IS COMMUNIST REPUBLIC IN NEPAL.YOUR SUPPORT FOR REPUBLIC MIGHT ULTIMATELY END UP BECOMING SUPPORT FOR COMMUNIST REPUBLIC UNLESS THATS WHAT YOU WANT.

Panas
do you think maoists are that stupid???????? Do you think they don't know the repurcussion they may have to face if they dare to isolate nepal from the rest of the world??????
If you DO KEEP TRACK of NEWS, parachanda once told that the only reason they stopped themselves from invading ktm is because they did not want international force to come and interfere and fight against them. They do know what happened to USSR, and how US is eying on China, so they will do anything but to impose communist republic in Nepal and isolate it from the rest of the world.

I have answered it already in my last post.

when you can show the gun and do the things easily , why do u need to use guns?
If maoist could they would have by now ,if you believe in Prachanda's word then you are to naive.
Yes , they know they cannot have international support , but when their big brother UML is there why they do need to worry?
You are just not getting it. my fren ,loote .This will give really twist in the game.
We need to think now , where would Nepal head after republic, I can bet 98% towards communist republic.I do not want to take 2% chance on Nepal being pure and just republic.
If you don't know by now ,let me tell you Nepal Army is still royal Nepal army. So, it is not peice of cake!!!

its a time for cleaning up dude.

1) first time in the history of nepal, people came to the street to fight against the autocratic king and monarchy. if you still feel that monarchy was not being hurdle in establishing a stable democracy in nepal, let alone economic prosperity and development then i have nothing to say to you. you need a counselling and i m not ready for it right now. you may want to give me a call, i can do it over the phone.

2) after abolishing monarchy, only first task will be done. second will be to deal with the maoists. if they are ready for committment for multiparty democracy then thats fine.

i m not ready to buy your argument that they will make nepal former cambodia or USSR for that matter. WHY?

1) International pressure. they know it. they wont dare to play around with US AND EU.

2) Nepalese are smart enough. Had it not been there thinking and will, even stepping down of KG would not have possible. Remember, if RNA can surrender for public then why not for maoists?

3) India factor--they are desperate to tackle their naxalists who have close association with maoists. so Indian and hence US will make sure that maoists dont grow as a single institution to run Nepal. Hell no.

good keep your optimistic views!!don't feel really sad when they do get things done their way or oh ya you have some symapthy for maoist :)

well , i would talk to over phone for Nepal's economy over the phone but i feel it is not necessary too cause i already told you look at the moral of SPAM and King .you won't find difference.Don't just compare who did how much corruption.

Why won't army bow down infront of maoist?
if i were army , i wouldn't have so i don't expect them to either.
Bowing infront of maoist terrorist ! no way.

Again there was huge discussion on other threads , Did people come to street for loktantra or ganatantra??????????
think!!
Don't draw conclusion , that people who came to street were for ganatantra and that too how and how many?there is already suspicion.

Nepalese people have tendency of taking everything and anything in street so this is one of them. Not big deal . When there is one tempo driver beaten whole Nepal stops!!!this is the biggest irony of Nepal.

I don't know, these students of Nepal has nothing better to do .Rajnithi and chaka jaaam. And for some vaduwas they readily jump to streets.Such is their educated brains.

And this again is US And India desire to keep king.If you think what they say works for Nepal then this is what they want .take it!

King Gyanendar and his son need to be tried in the International Tribunal rather than be rewarded with "ceremonial king" status. The govt needs to be pressured to investigate the royal massacre and bring the culprits to book... King G needs to be booked for trying to suppress the Jan Andolan and for the murder of the martyrs. the government should be pressured to look into the alleged murder of Prabin Gurung by Paras as well.

What "ceremonial king"? Monarchy as we knew it ended in Nepal for good the day King Birendra and Dipendra were taken out.

What is this? Giving ceremonial status to people with questionable character. There are no better than the Maoists - they are worse!
