Although there is a sense of belief out there that Wall Street is getting more diverse in terms of its employees, I think it is a bunch of bull crap. Companies on the Street claim that they promote diversity but when it comes to hiring, especially for the good, coveted positions they want their Fu**K*EN white people. THese Managing directors and other F**Ck*ES think that only white people can do these jobs, when on the contrary a lot of qualified minorities can do those jobs with their eyes closed. These mofos think they have some sort of inherant right or privelege to always be a miles ahead of everyone. Mofos, raping the world for profit,,these gore haramis thirst for money can never be quenched. Unfortunately we have to go begging to these chutiaz to get good jobs. All these other IVY LEague mofos have this look on their face as if their shit doesn't stink or something. Overrated mujis. F**UC**K E*M!

Ermm, Asians from Asia are international students. Click on the link I provided above; it specifically mentions "Asian Americans".

There is racism all over the US, it may not be as visible at your workplace but you can feel it in subtlety. My fiancee's company recently promoted a white guy as the CEO and this bugger turns around, looks at the financial statements of the company and decides to fire 6 upper mangement people, CFO, CIO, COO and some other guys, and replaces all of them with "his" people, all of whom turned out to be white.

There definitely is racism in America. Got stopped at the airport when going to Nepal. They prolly thought I was a muslim or something. Really got my goat, so I shouted discrimination, and this broad came to talk to me, and it seemed like they were more polite with me after that. The bottomline is that if you feel discriminated, don't hesitate to point out the obvious, if you know what I mean. I have learned a few things.

racism ultimately destroys the business.

and gives way to new competetive ones, new jobs, opportunities for us.

so i think racism is good.

hahaha thats funny. That actually happened to an Uncle of mine who came to NEw York during the Millennium. We were going to times square and then while we were getting out of the subway, it was filled with security personnel and all of a sudden this cop pulls my uncle (who looks arabic) to the corner and starts questioning him and asks for his ID and stuff..Poor uncle had just come to the states a year ago, so he didn't fight back..Later on he was just cursing his ass...hahaha

Common Bro..I hear your frustrations...

-First of we need to know that we are in a white dominated country.
-No matter what they say about diverse practice--they will still dominate.

BUT do not underestimate other etnicities--specially Asians.

Asinas are the ones who screwed up whites--
How?
-Look where most of the jobs went from US (Outsourcing)--Mainly to India and China

Let me also ask you another question...

Will you choose a white girl or a black girl to go out on a date?

Nice debate....
Well, it might be repetitive, but like I said in my initial post, Racism is more rampant in SMBs, small to mid-size businesses, and multi-national companies seem to have got the point...minorites are smart, if not smarter...70% of Masters degree in Science and Math is obtained by Asian students in the USA. Typical American usually take Finance, Marketing, Accounting, Management/Business Admin as their majors, thus may be end up in the Wall Streets and other financial institutions.

Here's a brief list of minority high ranking CXO that I know.

1. Vyomesh (VJ) Joshi - Executive Vice President, Imaging and Printing Group, HP
2. Gene Huang - CFO FedEx Corp.
3. R. Subramaniyam - CMO - EMEA, FedEx Corp.
4. Arvind Sodhani, Senior Vice President, President, Intel Capital
5. Anand Chandrasekher, Senior Vice President, General Manager, Sales and Marketing Group
6. Timothy Chen, Corporate Vice President and CEO, Microsoft
7. Anoop Gupta, Corporate Vice President, Unified Communications Group, Microsoft
8. Daniel T. Ling, Corporate Vice President, Research , Microsoft
9. Sanjay Gupta ,Ex-CEO of CA

The list can go on and on...The irony of the above list is most of them are Graduates of Top 20 Universities in the USA. We all know Sanjya Gupta (Former CEO of CA)...

This does not mean there is no racism....Hell, I think my boss is racist....I think I deserve a rase every quarter :o)...but I get it every year only !!

So, to conclude my rather extensive post, let's keep doing what we do best, and prove them to best of our abilities. Days will come when we Nepali will shine...there are few already....and we can add many more !

the main thing is that work hard u will get good position in US. i am working hard and i am optimistic that one day i will be an example.talking about racism is becoming pessimistic towards yours life.i don't want to say that there is no issue of racism but think once you are the one who can make a difference. let me give u an example, if balck people always think that they were slaves of whites and act like a slave, drop high schools, work on low paying jobs, use drugs then they will never get a good position in their life.my main motto is work hard and show the world that there is no such things like 'race' and the truth is that because from where white, black, asian etc came from. the evidence of evolution of human beings shows that we developes from primates. so guys i beg u,don't be pessimistic because of your race.you r the one who can make difference.lets do it !!

Racism in jobmarket...esp in corporate world...DEFINITELY!!! I went through some of the above postings (not all).. whtever u guys have said is mostly true... of course there are exceptions everywhere having Indians or Asians in an executive post but generally evaluating ... those are very few lucky ones...as we say "right place at the right time"... but most of us (my personal experience n frm wht i've seen n heard) are the victims of racism in the job market (white-collar jobs) in one way or the other. If your co-worker is white... he/she has a better chance of getting the recognition/promotion (like I say there r exceptions and its is based on wht i've seen n heard). Most of the Indians and asians are in IT field... but financial sectors are heavily dominated by whites. Either you have to outstand and be insanely smart or have to know how to "KISS ASS"... On top of that, most of the white ppl think tht they are the victims of Reverse Discrimination. They believe that we have a better chance of getting job in today's market rather than them... I doubt it. Probably it happens to 1 of 1000 ppl. AAHHHHHHHHHH.... Its fraustating sometimes but I am hoping someday I will climb up to THT Place up there!!! :-)

good point thugged out and M60. anyone who has gone to school in the usa can tell that these white people think that they are super natural. They treat you like you're an alien from mars. Even though you can write better english than them, much more talented than them, they think you're stupid because you have accent while you speak. and of course, older white people who are the ceos and top execs in most companies, they can't see foreigners more than some labor. They don't even realize that they are racist. they do things that is discriminating , but tey don't even realize it.
Indians can be IT techs and engineers but thier big bosses are always whites. Indians bust their asses while thier white bosses play gulf and get paid millions.

It is kind of funny how some poeple react! Racism....come on everyone everyone knows that Asian's are the most racist people on earth. Everywhere on earth there is racism ...what about nepal...never met more racist people on earth than people in nepal...with caste system, bahuans, newars, chetris..

We stick to our own race, when it comes to socialing, marriage, even work to some degree....

So boo whoo boo whoo....lets blame it on racism

Get a backbone man.... roll up your sleeve and just do it... those who succeed are those who never make excuses.....

Life is not fair, if anyone lives in seseme street ....they need to growup....

One think I notice about most Asians is that they conform to a sterotype....they are smart but not creative....creativity is not in our definition of being smart.....
Creative ones are ones who don't conform and therefore they are not smart...

Until people realize that creaivity is a good thing...asians will only be followers not leaders.....we will emulate and want only what the white poeple want.....

But still.. i think america is less discriminatory than our very own Nepal...where nepotism and despotism in its height. At least u get a chance in america to prove yourself and u can still go further beyond the racial discrimination....while in nepal....... well u all kno that

It is the slave mentality that minority, especially Asians carry that fires back at them.
In my university there are white and asian (Indians and Oriental) graduate Research Assistants. They are paid for about 20 hours of work (research) every week. But the white works just that 20 hours whereas Asians end up working close to 40 if not more hours for their professors. And the professors have realized this kind of slave mentality and consequently exploit it. While a white will shout exploitation, an Asain will shut his/her mouth and labor hard.

The point is not about which place is more discrimanitory than other. It is about what you claim to be and what you actually are.

Racism in the American Corporate World is Rampant. I don't understand how some people here don't seem to understand that. If you work for Corporate America, you will know how bad it is. Suprisingly it is pretty nepotistic as well. I don't blame them, its their country. Goldman was founded by german jews, Lehman Brothers used to be a dry goods store in the south owned by some European Immigrants before it turned into a financial juggernaut. Essentially, Financial Institutions want to retain their culture and history. This is one industry where culture is so crucial and they are very conservative. Goldman Sachs is completely white dominated and they are the most prestigious Investment Bank on Wall Street. Having a lot of minorities at the managment level will, in their minds, pollute their culture. In fact I have heard through friends that to get a job at Goldman, you have to Interview them like 12 to 14 times before getting an offer. In the end, every Goldman staff that interviewed you has to like you and believe that you will fit their culture. In the end what is more essential? your knowledge in the subject or your ability to demonstrate that you can embrace the Goldman Way?

M60, is not it too late to realize the notion of a "RACIST JOBMARKET' ???

How come you have to reach this far "WALL-STREET" to realize this "FREAKING" thing??? For me, I have felt this long way back when I was crawling on the "NEW ROAD STREET" under the sky of NEPAL and with similar skin colors....!!!

Now I am immune to these so call social antigens.....

LOL!!!

Racism is all over the world. To get THAT JOB we have to have conviction, determination and be willing to go that extra mile.. There is definitely glass ceiling when it comes to minority getting to the executive level positions. However, crying racism is not going to get us there. We have to prove ourselves time and time again.
