From Nepalnews:

Meanwhile, Nepali media largely ignored a statement said to have been issued by CPN (Maoist) spokesman, Krishna B. Mahara. The 'statement' sent by e-mail to major media and human rights organisations on Wednesday claimed that the party had decided to observe unilateral ceasefire for over a month beginning Friday.

The CPN (Maoist) party is yet to comment on the authenticity of the said statement.

So the question is: who is Web Admin who posted the fake press release here in sajha?

Yes, the fake one has been issued in Nepal to different human rights group and press bodies.

But I tell you onw thing.... the Maoists and th Maoists chamche who are enjoying life in foreign soils are being asked my the Maoists to put this up here in sajha.. this is my conspiracy theory.

One thing is sure... the f**king Prachande and BRB and Mahara are having difficulty is breathing these days.... they have to die like dogs inside the jungle... Bhate haru. Losers.

If the statement is indeed genuine, the most it will do is allow Nepaliese -who havent lost their loved ones in teh conflict so far- to celebrate Dashain and Tihar. But what after that?

If this temporary ceasefire leads to more internse fighiting thereafter, by virtue of Maoists being able to garner more strength, the government should not fall into this trap.

My proposition:

On a different note, the government can agree to the ceasefire, create an atmosphere for 'talks' and invite the Maoists for talks. BUT THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE THE ONE WHO WALKS AWAY FROM THE TALKS THIS TIME AROUND and detain the participating maoists without warning, which should destabilize their chain of command. The government should be ready to face some criticisms to some extent from some Human Rights groups and things like that but these sorts of criticisms come and go and are soon forgotten. After all, that would be in the interest of majority of Nepalese.

They may call for strikes and 'bandhs' for few days, whose effect will deteriorate by the day as we saw in the case of Kathmandu blockade. They may threaten closure of industries though.

Closing the industry?

For whom Maoists fighting for? As Hawagujji66 asks, is it really for the people? Are they at all near by even an inch from the Marx's theory? Aren't they supposed to fight against the Samantis, Soshak? But all those Samantis and soshaks are walking freely and deteriorating the country deeply. And Maoists are ready to dry up the income sources of majdurs. Fu** you BRB, Prachande.... Paagal chore, insane people devoid of any brain at all in your heads.

90,000 pounds for medical treatment of Helen shah.. see where they are taking this country. Maoists are accomplice of the rulers ruining the country. Maoists are indirectly and directly helping the chor party leaders running the country for past 12 years. Another news is, there are already 50,000 nepali women in Saudi Arabia , although Nepal has banned women to go abroad specially in middle east to work. What the F*** happening in this country? Can you imagine why Saudi Arabia is ready to accept even more Nepalese women.. and now it looks like the muslim minister who recently came back from middle east visit is indicating that Nepali Govt might lift the ban. What is this all shit about?

Current news is:

Fresh clash reported in Syangja-Tanahun border (breaking news)
Security forces have launched air raids while large number of troops are engaged in gunbattle with the Maoists at Chitrebhanjyang, a bordering area between Syangja and Tanahun, Thursday evening.

State-owned Radio Nepal said that additional troops have been sent to the area from Pokhara. Security forces have cordoned off the entire area for operation. Details of the clash are awaited. nepalnews.com mbk Oct 13 04

Our web admin, San is still silent though Mahara had already dhwang fukeko ki
it was hoax created by Nepali Govt.. I still believe, the maoists using such tricks to
speed up the govt. to announce cease fire. Do you remember the fake announcements
(so called fakes: I call them test/ rehearsal announcements) just before the
previous (about 2 years ago) cease fire. There were also a lot of rehearsals and
final announcement came around the end of Tihar when Police IGP Mr. Shrestha(?)
was killed. In politics, in US, in Nepal, in Japan and elsewhere including in Maoists
world too, when they don't know the public mood, and need to test the public
mood they ask their lower level cadres/leaders to create hoax i.e. send a test
message via public media and within a day the higher level leaders denounce and
blame it for their opponents "a formula, I have been watching for long". Because
of such hoax, if the public mood is on their side, then they will say that it was their
genuine announcments or leak of information, otherwise, whole blame goes opponents.
Such game is not a new, its understandable when you are in poor conditions.

I don't think that without having good link with Maoists, the person who disseminated
all these information, could have been possible. Its certainly not by Mahara, but, by
lower level cadres with slight hints from higher level leaders. I am not surprised and
in a few days to few weeks Maoists will finally announce the final announcements,
not the rehearsals.

This is to answer some questions raised in this thread. The above was an email received at the mailbox admin@sajha.com

I do feel that it is an authentic message and it should be given some serious thought instead of treating it as a hoax. I am posting the Header of the Message body below:

Personally speaking, if this IS a genuine communication from the Maoists, and the Nepali Government fails to reciprocate with a similar ceasefire - brushing this off as a hoax, we could have missed out on an opportunity to build up on the ceasefire that we desperately need right now to keep our nation from continuing to fall into the downward spiral.

What is interesting to me in this current episode of Maoist drama is that
Neither Nepalnews.com nor Kantipur.org (=kantipuronline.com) have shown
interest on publishing the initial news of ceasefire, nor the Khandan by Mahara.
It reminds the joke of "Gothalo's Bagh Ayo, Bachao-- Bal Katha", and now,
the big news house are closing their ear. It has to happen one day. When you
try to pretend to be clever like that Gothalo, you will be hit hard when you
really need their service. Poor indeed. Kathai Bara Bichara Mahara, Kam se
kam tyo khandan samma ta publish garnu partyo, tyo pani publish gari
diyen tyo Kantipure le. I am wondering whether Kantipure will get penalty
for not publishing the HO_INA_KURA SATYA HO. stuffs.

Enjoy it: the Maoist Prachar Baji drama.

Dear San: Personally speaking it is a hoax.. isn't it? If it's not.. then this letter received by sajha must show at least a minimum authenticity. Where is the logo of Moaists in the leter head?Where is that Bloody red flag with stars or the logo of thier five great leaders painted in red?

Aba ke pataune ke na pataune, aba ta kasaile ajha tero dehant bhayo, hami tero malami jadaichu, lau hid bhane bhane pane, afnai malami huna ber lagdaina.
Surprising enough, if it was a hoax, then who are behind it, if it was real (I doubt, now), look at the increasing assult on maoist by the govt forces. Is the govt really not interested in ceasefire, and the growing rift between the coalation partners.
Hey Mata, Durge, sabailai sadhbuddhi deu, malai chai alle bade hai.

So, the letter was a fake, because the dates and content do not match, or they send two letters one by Mahara and another by International Mohara.
Whatever, it was nice gesture on their part to announce relief period, if they can keep their promise. Now the idiot government not interested in peace fell flat on their face. Afterall, there are handfull who will benefit out of all the bloodshed and myhem.
