http://www.pranavdhakal.com/ Dear Sajha friends, Pranav Dhakal is our wonderful friend and it is on his behalf we are making this appeal. It is unfortunate that we could not introduce a person so cheerful, optimistic and compassionate in a better circumstance. Throughout these many years of friendship he has endlessly won our hearts with his witty "shayaris", empathetic spirit, and has personally impressed me with his enduring optimism. His motivation to help fellow Nepalese is unequaled. There are many of us whose memories with Pranav began at the airport, where he volunteered to pick up new Nepali students with that big smile on his face. Recently, Pranav was admitted to Overland Park Hospital in Kansas City to get treated for a rare infection. As of now, his condition is very CRITICAL. The infection has spread throughout his body including his heart, lungs, liver and kidneys. His brain has suffered a condition called "sinus thrombosis". Doctors say that it is difficult to cure this condition when only a minimal dose of antibiotics can be administered to him in order to prevent further damage to his kidneys. We felt helpless to see a person as enthusiastic and as motivated as Pranav lying on the hospital bed fighting for his life. This is an appeal on his behalf to pray for him and for his family during this difficult time. This is also an appeal to every one of you to DONATE whatever amount you can to help him cover the medical expenses but more importantly to bring his family members here to care for him. We thank you in advance for all your prayers and support. On behalf of Pranav Dhakal, ~ Friends of Pranav _________________________________________________________ Pranav's Associations: St. Xavier's School - 1996 batch (Kathmandu) Wichita State University (Wichita) Butler County Community College (Wichita) Park University (Kansas City) Pranav was also a resident of Boston, MA. .............................................. DONATIONS CAN BE SENT TO: Amar Bajracharya 13920 W 143rd Ct, Olathe, KS 66062 .............................................. PayPal will be setup SOON. http://www.pranavdhakal.com/ * I apologize for the misleading subject of this thread.

It is to be understood that helping Pranav and his family has been a collaborative effort. There are a lot of us directly involved and a lot more of us indirectly involved trying to make a difference for Pranav. You may never hear about most of us but as long as we are making an effort to help Pranav, we are satisfied and we are happy. I just happened to be in the limelight since the beginning of this because I chose the task to keep everyone informed about Pranav, but I want everyone to know that there are more working together on this. And of course, Pranav has MANY MORE good friends other than me. I wanted everyone to know this.

mylove: I had previously thought about taking some pictures of Pranav for the website, but with more considerations, dropped that idea. First, to take pictures, the hospital needs to authorize it after reviewing the request from Pranav's parents. That sounded like a process to me. Second, and more importantly, I did not think that Uncle and Aunty were too eager to post Pranav's pictures because he really does look terrible. Hence the idea was dropped. If you really want to get a feel of the situation Pranav is in, please read my "Health Update and More" post of March 16th.

Bijulee, Thanks for the update once again. Good to know that Pranav is doing well. I was just wondering how long he needs to be in the hospital. I know as a matter of fact that he is still in critical situation but still those doctors may have better idea of the recovery process and approximate time it will need. I pray for his speedy recovery.

Mr. Lonely: With the current rate of recovery, the doctors are talking in "months". For now, they are trying to get his lungs to work optimally so that he can be off the respirator, and hence off sedation. Then they are going to deal with other problems. The fact that they decided on a tracheal incision to give him oxygen says that this process is not going to be short-lived. We are all praying for his speedy recovery. Please spread Pranav’s condition to everyone you know. He is in need of a lot of support and prayers. http://www.PranavDhakal.com
