http://www.pranavdhakal.com/ Dear Sajha friends, Pranav Dhakal is our wonderful friend and it is on his behalf we are making this appeal. It is unfortunate that we could not introduce a person so cheerful, optimistic and compassionate in a better circumstance. Throughout these many years of friendship he has endlessly won our hearts with his witty "shayaris", empathetic spirit, and has personally impressed me with his enduring optimism. His motivation to help fellow Nepalese is unequaled. There are many of us whose memories with Pranav began at the airport, where he volunteered to pick up new Nepali students with that big smile on his face. Recently, Pranav was admitted to Overland Park Hospital in Kansas City to get treated for a rare infection. As of now, his condition is very CRITICAL. The infection has spread throughout his body including his heart, lungs, liver and kidneys. His brain has suffered a condition called "sinus thrombosis". Doctors say that it is difficult to cure this condition when only a minimal dose of antibiotics can be administered to him in order to prevent further damage to his kidneys. We felt helpless to see a person as enthusiastic and as motivated as Pranav lying on the hospital bed fighting for his life. This is an appeal on his behalf to pray for him and for his family during this difficult time. This is also an appeal to every one of you to DONATE whatever amount you can to help him cover the medical expenses but more importantly to bring his family members here to care for him. We thank you in advance for all your prayers and support. On behalf of Pranav Dhakal, ~ Friends of Pranav _________________________________________________________ Pranav's Associations: St. Xavier's School - 1996 batch (Kathmandu) Wichita State University (Wichita) Butler County Community College (Wichita) Park University (Kansas City) Pranav was also a resident of Boston, MA. .............................................. DONATIONS CAN BE SENT TO: Amar Bajracharya 13920 W 143rd Ct, Olathe, KS 66062 .............................................. PayPal will be setup SOON. http://www.pranavdhakal.com/ * I apologize for the misleading subject of this thread.

Hi all: A few aesthetic changes have been made to the website http://www.PranavDhakal.com You can always sent me your comments at help_pranav@yahoo.com or post them here. On another note, I am absolutely stunned that no Nepali businesses have come forth and offered Pranav any help (Except for Zen Travels and NepaliSite.com). I contacted many businesses including Munchahouse and many others and NO RESPONSE. It is really a shame. We make their business: Thamel.com, Himtel, Muncha, and many more. Where are they now when a fellow Nepali needs help? Instead of offering to help they don't even respond to me. I am sorry but that IS REALLY A SHAME. I contacted several other Nepali Organizations as well: The Association of Nepalis in the Americas, Nepali Entrepreneurs in North America, America-Nepal Medical Foundation, Association of Nepalese in Midwest America, Nepalis living in Texas, Nepali Association of Oregan, Kentucky Nepali Society, Minnesota Friends of Nepal, Florida Nepal Association, Nepalese Americas Council, Nepalese association in Southeast America, Rocky Mountain Friends of Nepal, Nepal Seattle Society, Nepali women’s global network, Annapurna Deo And NONE of them have responded to my email yet. GBNC & anmn.org are the ONLY two organizations that have responded. People you need to show me some support here, I am starting to feel really really sad for Pranav. He is a wonderful person, he needs help and he deserves our help. PLEASE go to his website and make a donation NOW.

Bijulee: Samudaya.org has added a link to the site. "Help Pranav Dhakal Nepali student of Kansas is in critical condition. Find out how to help." If anybody has direct link to the organizations a request should be made to the organizations if no heed was given to your notice. People can also do so by emailing the organizations. An email link to cater to requests to those organizations should also be added to the website. Why should anybody help? Several Nepalese face problems of their own kind in the US. Should this problem qualify for help to the 1st degree? These questions may arise in the minds of a donor. It is important to find out what the actual medical costs is going to be so that donors are encouraged to meet that target. I know a precise estimate might not be possible but a rough figure should be quoted and if there are already some personal funds and insurence, it should be mentioned. In these few days the donation has been limited to mainly Kansas meaning that help is not pouring in form outside Kansas. People do not feel the connection. Prospective donors might be skeptical. Donors might feel that if everyone was to donate there might be excess of funds which makes many to leave the job to others. My suggestion is to work out a plan to collect funds only to meet medical expense and not funds to bring parents or relatives. It should be trasparent and I'm sure everybody will put in a little extra effort to meet the target. In problems like these all Nepalese should help one another and it is possible if there is more transparency. This is just what I feel, I may be wrong and perhaps it doesn't need to be scrutinized to this level. Anyway!

AC/DC: I am in total agreement with you regarding transparency. A rough estimate of the medical cost may soon come into light after Pranav's parents arrive tomorrow. They can directly talk to the doctors/hospital and possibly get more information regarding his condition, as well as the estimation of the medical expenses. We are VERY limited to what information we get from the hospital, hopefully this will change after tomorrow, allowing us to be more transparent. I will also look into Pranav's current medical insurance policy and will post its details on his website soon. 100% of the funds collected will go into meeting Pranav's needs. I am sure it is undisputed that not all families in Nepal can afford a plane ticket to the US. If that is the case with Pranav's family, I personally have no objection if part of the fund is used to bring his parents to his bedside. I believe this is our HIGHEST priority for Pranav sake (and the hospital agrees with me too). Having said that, I want to make it clear that I have no control over the fund and I am not going to suggest how it should be used as long as it is used to meet Pranav's needs. We do plan to give a summary of the expenses in due time. I will try and get more information for all of you tomorrow. Please keep Pranav in your prayers and go to his website to make your donation today. I personally thank all the donors/sponsors for their generous contributions and for helping a fellow Nepali in need.

Bijulee, I'm happy with your response, it's only through discussion we come to know what is right. I'm with you all the way. I now feel the obligation to support Pranav in anyway that I can. I will be constantly checking the website for updates. Please don't be frustrated like you sounded in one of your earlier posts. Did you check up with Nepalese Association of Houston. They have an emergency fund set up and I think others should go to their site and donate for future needs to other Nepalese. For the time being all well wishers of Pranav should work to meet the expense goal.

From this thread: http://www.sajha.com/sajha/html/openThread.cfm?forum=2&ThreadID=28306 Author: Kurkure_Haddi "Is mr Khadka paying Sajha to advertise his novel? If not then why not put Pranav Dhakal's link there instead? By Looking at that novel site http://www.dkhadka.com/chithi/en/index.shtml I see Sajha.com banner...May be its exchange of banner. The man behind that novel Site is no other than Mr Deepak Khanal who is behind the nepali software who seems to be very close to Sajha. Anyways, why not to use Pranav Dhakal's banner instead... Please note that this is IF novel site is not paying Sajha.com"
