काठमाडौं, चैत २९ - गोरखा तन्द्राङकी सीता बस्ताकोटी डीभी परेको दिन खुसीले रातभरि निदाउन पनि सकिनन् ।
सरकारी शिक्ष्ँिकाको सरल जिन्दगीमा एउटा परिवर्तन ल्याइदियो डीभीले । राष्ट्रसंघको आईएलओ अर्न्तर्गतको एक संस्थाका जागिरे उनका पति राजेन्द्रले जागिर

छाडिदिए । दर्ुइ जुम्ल्याहा छोरा, आफू र श्रीमान् अमेरिका जान लागेको पत्तो पाएका सीताका छिमेकीले उनलाई सजिलै ऋण पत्याए ।

'सेकेन्ड लेटर आइसकेको थियो,' राजेन्द्र भन्छन्- 'ढुक्कैले खर्च गरियो ।'

अमेरिका गइहालिन्छ, अनि त पैसाको के खा“चो भन्ने सिद्धान्तले तिनले ६ लाख खर्च गरेछन् । तर सोचेजस्तो कहा“ हुन्छ - सीता अन्तर्वार्तामा अमेरिका जान अयोग्य घोषित गरिइन् । 'म बर्बाद भए“' आमरण अनशन बसेकी सीताले भनिन्- 'अमेरिकाले ठग्यो ।'

एउटा शान्त र सरल जिन्दगी डीभीको हुरीले यसरी उडाएको घटना यो एउटामात्रै होइन । तीन सयभन्दा बढी त क्षतिपर्ूर्तिको र डीभी चिट्ठा खारेजीको माग गर्दै आन्दोलनमै उत्रिएका छन् ।

ओखलढंुगाका दिनेश पोखरेलको डीभीकै कारण सम्बन्धविच्छेद भएको छ । 'डीभी परेको थाहा पाएपछि' खोटाङकी रिता केसीले सुस्केरा हालिन्- 'गाउ“भरिका मानिस भेट्न आए, बधाई दिए र भाग्यमानी भनेर प्रशंसा गरे ।' तर भिसा नपाएको थाहा पाएपछि तिनै मानिस उनीस“ग बोल्दैनन् रे ।

डीभी पीडित संघका अध्यक्ष घनश्याम बस्यालका अनुसार २५ भन्दा बढी पीडितको मानसिक सन्तुलन खलबलिएको छ । दर्जनभन्दा बढीको सम्बन्ध विच्छेद र एक सयभन्दा बढीको जागिर गुमेको छ । ऋण सबैलाई लागेको छ र धेरैको घरबार बन्दकीमा छ ।

चिट्ठा भनेको धेरैस“ग लिएर थोरैलाई दिने खेल हो । यहा“ अमेरिकाले पनि यही गरिरहेको राजेन्द्रले बताए । अमेरिकाले भर्खर जन्मिएको बच्चाको पनि अन्तरवार्ताको नाममा मोटै रकम लिएर ठगी गरेको उनको गुनासो छ ।

DV 2007 ko result aayo ra sathi ho malai ta pattai thiyena ta ho hernu paryo ni ko ko bhagyamani bhayechhan.

Well the situation does not get any better for so many even in US.

I hear so many sad stories from those especially who come in their 40s or 50s.

US embassy to review protesters’ cases

KATHMANDU, April 16 - The US embassy in Kathmandu has agreed to re-evaluate the case of the Diversity Visa (DV)-denied protesters who went on a fast-unto-death demanding that the US embassy reimburse the loss incurred during the visa processing.
The US Ambassador James F Moriarty today, during a meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs Sahana Pradhan, Monday said that the embassy will review the case of each applicant who was denied a DV.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign affairs today said that the government and the US embassy would jointly "make an effort" to resolve the issue of the protesters.

The release has also urged the victims to call off their protest programs.

Meanwhile, the DV-victims have sought the government's attention towards the deteriorating condition of the fellow protesters who have gone into a fast-unto-death since the last week.

Stating that the condition of the six persons who have been on hunger strike was critical, the protesters have urged the government to make an effort to have their demands addressed at the earliest possible.

Following a 106-day long relay hunger strike, the protesters had announced a fast-unto-death last week.

डीभी पीडितहरूले अनसन तोडे

सात दिनदेखि आमरण अनसन बस्दै आएका डीभी पीडितहरूले सोमबारदेखि अनसन तोडेका छन् ।


अनसनमा रहेका डीभी पीडितहरूलाई भेट्न अनसनस्थल पुगेका मानवअधिकारकर्मीहरूले, पीडितहरूको माग पूरा गर्न आफूहरूले पहल गर्ने जनाएपछि उनीहरूले अनसन तोडेका हुन् । आमरण अनसनमा बसेकाहरूलाई मानवअधिकारकर्मी पद्मरत्न तुलाधरलगायतले जुस खुवाएर अनसन तोडाउनु भएको थियो ।


यसैबीच नेपालका लागि अमेरिकी राजदूत जेम्स एफ.मोरियार्टर्ीी डिभी पीडितहरूको समस्याको पुनरावलोकन गर्ने बताउनुभएको छ । सोमबार परराष्ट्रमन्त्री सहाना प्रधानसँग भएको भेटवार्ताको क्रममा उहाँले डिभी पीडितहरूको निवेदनका बारेमा पुनरावलोकन गर्ने बताउनुभएको हो ।


परराष्ट्र मन्त्रालयले विज्ञप्तिमार्फ् आफ्ना सबै सङ्र्घष्ाका कार्यक्रम फिर्ता लिन डिभी पीडितहरूसँग आग्रह गरेको थियो ।


केही महिनाअघिदेखि चरणबद्ध आन्दोलन गर्दै आएका पीडितहरू यस अघि पनि दूतावासकै कार्यालय अगाडि एक सय दिनसम्म रिले अनसनमा बसेका थिए । अमेरिका जान आवश्यक पर्ने भिसा पाएर पनि अमेरिका जान नपाएपछि क्षतिपर्ूर्तिको माग गर्दै डिभी पीडितहरू आन्दोलनमा उत्रिएका हुन् ।
