these days we're discussing the subject of abortion and the laws in the US concernign it , in my ethics class...i think abortion should be allowed until the point when the fetus becomes viable....what do u guys think and y?

I am definetly pro-choice but I also think it has to be done for the right reasons and as a last resort to solve the problem.

To each it's own... who r we to impose restrictions and say something is legal or illegal... this is a democratic country, not IRAQ... so let people decide what they want and let us try not to force our opinion on others as form of constitution/law.

If you ask me, I am pro-choice.

If the argument is, to quote Monty Python-- "every sperm is sacred", and once it is inside of a woman, she should not abort because life begins at conception, then I would say it is "ridiculous". Just because the sperms and eggs mixed inside of the woman and now is becoming a "baby" does not mean the woman does not have the right to disown the sperm and egg.

Just because you were thinking to build a chair and you bought nails, hammer and wood already does not mean you no longer have right to not make the chair. It's my chair. I may not want the chair even when I am already done building it with only one leg remaining to put on. I may not want the chair even when I have all four legs done, and only finishing touches remain to be done.

Many of you may say it is not right to compare a baby to a chair. But my point is not to compare the baby to a chair. My point is, until the baby comes popping out of the woman, the woman has the right to choose whether or not she wants it.

Who are we to say what she wants or not, and what she can or cannot do? She is a human being and capable of making her own decisions. The whole abortion issue should rest with the women. Men should NOT have any say on this. If your argument is that men contribute to the baby because only the egg does not make a baby, men contribute with their sperm. So men should also have a say in the abortion. I would say "ridiculous". We are not the ones responsible for carrying the baby in our womb for 9 months. You were inside of a woman once and you delivered your sperm does not give you the right to decide abortion. You waste your sperm everyday in your bathroom with the latest edition of the playboy magazine.

If the right-wing nuts really believe that abortion starts at conception, then here's my question: have you right-wingers ever thought about the millions of sperms (that are "potential human beings" in you own words) that you destroy every time you masturbate thinking of Pam Anderson? Isn't that abortion too? You are killing millions of potential babies.

You know what? Masturbation should not be legal, just the way abortion is not.

i agree with loote....until the fetus is viable...it's the woman's choice....but once the fetus is viable ...i think it should b allowed to live.....but plz don't ask me the question "@ what point does a fetus become viable?" i don't have an answer to that ;-)

Well...before you post your views on this controversial issue, think once what would have happened to you if YPU WERE ONE OF THE VICTIMS OF ABORTION (imagine yourself in the pic posted above)...specially people who compare "life with chair" and "embyo/fetus with sperm". For me, that's very lame comparison.

My previous comment was not to offend you or anyone. I was just trying to point out how critical/senstitive issue it is so that people will refrain from making light comments and lame comparisons.

you would see that fetus more that 20 weeks old can feel the pain. So, you are saying it is okey to kill the baby who can feel the pain because YOU i.e. the MOTHER did not want the baby for whatever reason AND IT TAKES YOU DYAMN 5 MONTHS TO DECIDE what TO DO.

please look @ the picture of the aborted BABY you yourself posted one @ 10 week and the other @ 22 week and decide. does that 22 week resemble the baby born. i.e. no offense I/you would have looked the same the first day u/i were born.
