Something to ask :-)
Study
----------------
- How is student life in Aus?
-How r the chances of getting RA n TA in Graduation? (while continuuing)
- Can student make good/decent life even after paying tuition fee?
- How is the pay?
- Off campus jobs? (and of course pay)
- Does Aus also have 5 years Ph D course like US (Masters+ Ph D)?
- Can student apply for work permit while studying?
- Generally how many hours r students allowed to work? (is it 20 hrs a week?)

After Study
----------

-How is job market?
- I heard every state has their own rules, can we apply jobs to any state we want?
- After completion of study, if visa expires, how much time students get to find job? (Like in Canada its one year)

Immigration
-------

-Are students eligible to apply?
- Generally, how long does it take for final decision?
- Can we directly apply for citizenship after getting PR
- How is Australain life?

Life
-------
-I heard weather is great, is that really so?
- Do they know anything more except CRICKET?
- Which cities r the best to live (jobs and life)?
- How big is Nepalese community?

Finally, How r the Ausies chicks :-)

Studies
-------------
-How is student life in Aus?
No good my friend, its terrible in fact. Well, if you're a Masters students and if your spouse is on dependent visa then he/she can work full time and that way its cool.

-How r the chances of getting RA n TA in Graduation? (while continuuing)
No Chance (Almost) (Is TA is for Teacher's/Teaching assistant ? What is RA?)

- Can student make good/decent life even after paying tuition fee?
No way, if you try to stay under legal limitation. Working 20 hours is just not enough

- How is the pay?
Up to AU $ 20 an hour if you work legally. Upto 35 dollars in Sundays and Public holidays. If you work cash in hand (illegally) it can get as low as $8 or $10

- Off campus jobs? (and of course pay)
You'll find no job in Campus.

- Does Aus also have 5 years Ph D course like US (Masters+ Ph D)?
No (As far as I know)

- Can student apply for work permit while studying?
Yes, otherwise he won't be allowed to work, not even 20 hours. Thats right, you need to apply for work permit to work 20 hours.

- Generally how many hours r students allowed to work? (is it 20 hrs a week?)
Yes 20 hours

After Study
----------------
-How is job market?
I would say the job market is not too bad. But if you look at the Nepalis living here for 10 - 15 years, you'll be frustrated.

- I heard every state has their own rules, can we apply jobs to any state we want?
States have own rules but one can go anywhere he/she likes.

- After completion of study, if visa expires, how much time students get to find job? (Like in Canada its one year)
I'm not sure how long can a student stay after student visa (as well as study) is over.

Immigration
---------------
-Are students eligible to apply?
Normally yes, Students are encouraged to apply. (For Permanent residency, if that is what you mean)

- Generally, how long does it take for final decision?
It depends upon the the "job on demand list". for an instance, less than 1 - 2 months for Nurses. Lets say 6-10 months in average.

- Can we directly apply for citizenship after getting PR
No. I believe you have to live 2 years minimum in Australia (after you are a PR) to be eligible for the citizenship.

- How is Australain life?
Australian life? Its good if you earn enough. (Well I guess that rule applies everywhere, kaso?)

Aussie Life
-------
-I heard weather is great, is that really so?
Weather . . . its hot. In summer it reaches upto 42- 43 degree. Great . . . if you love surfing and beaches.

- Do they know anything more except CRICKET?
Ausies love sports. All sort of sports. Cricket, Rugby, Football, anything. You name it, they'll love it. They are crazy for sports. They spend days watching games as boring as lawn bowling.

- Which cities r the best to live (jobs and life)?
Sidney has highest population. Opportunities are high and pay is high too. Life is faster in Sydney than any other city like Melbourne. Brisbane is cool (they say, I've never been there). Melbourne is cheapest among the cities, in regards to real estate (I was surprised to hear that too)

- How big is Nepalese community?
Nepalese community is quite big. (I dunnno how big is big however) Some inner suburbs of Sydney like Ashfield, Granville, Rockdale, Kogarah have too many Nepalis living. In trains, in shopping mall, at work, in University, everywhere you'll see Nepali. There is one University (Central Queensland Uni) known as Shanker Dev Campus of Sydney.

Aussie chicks
--------------
Aussie gals (AKA FAT A$$) are not good for your eyes. But don't be disappointed. You'll find plenty of beautiful Asians (I'm not talking about South Asians).

here are my answers to ur questions..though ima drop out

Study
----------------
- How is student life in Aus?
* i think its the same everywhere.

-How r the chances of getting RA n TA in Graduation? (while continuuing)
* refer to the university website you are interested in.
- Can student make good/decent life even after paying tuition fee?
* Students can maintain a good standard of living in comparison to other underdeveloped worlds..even after paying fees. It also depends on how much of a miser or a spendthrift you are if u are working.
- How is the pay?
* US$ 32,200 GNI per capita..you estimate

- Off campus jobs? (and of course pay)
*Yes in cleaning, dishwashing, waiting staff, cooking, security, cab driving..if you're lucky and qualified you get well-paid jobs

- Does Aus also have 5 years Ph D course like US (Masters+ Ph D)?
* yes i think so.
- Can student apply for work permit while studying?
*yes 20 hrs a week during semesters for undergraduates. full time on breaks. i don't know about masters n phd students. I think they have more advantages over undergrads as students.

- Generally how many hours r students allowed to work? (is it 20 hrs a week?)
*20 hrs legally. but u can work as much as u can illegally.

After Study
----------

-How is job market?
* depends on what industry and job function u are in..
- I heard every state has their own rules, can we apply jobs to any state we want?
*Yes if you are a permanent resident or like green card holder.

- After completion of study, if visa expires, how much time students get to find job? (Like in Canada its one year)
*They issue visas on how long your course is which inludes a timeframe during when u can look for jobs and apply for a PR after ur graduation. So its a matter of how u finish your degree and manage ur post graduation affairs.

Immigration
-------

-Are students eligible to apply?
* yes
- Generally, how long does it take for final decision?
* 1 to 6 months
- Can we directly apply for citizenship after getting PR
*No
- How is Australain life?
*Not bad not good either.

Life
-------
-I heard weather is great, is that really so?
* yes lots of sunshine but high chances of skin cancer if exposed directly to sun. Many aussies have skin cancer. Other places like hobart, melbourne, adelaide have cold and mild weathers.
- Do they know anything more except CRICKET?
* Yes..they know rugby, australian football not like soccer or american football, etc. surfing and swimming is australia's national sport.

- Which cities r the best to live (jobs and life)?
* dunno. i lived in sydney for a year.

- How big is Nepalese community?
* approx.. around 10,000 in sydney

Finally, How r the Ausies chicks :-)
fine..Nicole kidman, kylie minogue, cathy freeman are some examples.

Thanks friends, especially OZ and kalebhut for the detailed information.

Regarding 20 hrs work per week, does that apply to student going in AusAID scholarship as well? I have got the scholarship but am not sure if I can work as other regular international students.

It’s good to hear that Melbourne is cheap coz that’s the city I will be going to. Do you have any ides how much is accommodation per week? Let’s say I take a simple room with one attached toilet.

Will be very thankful for your reply.

Thanks.

My cousins and brother live in Melbourne. I have been there once, back in 2004. Absolutely loved the place. It made me imagine what the US must've been back in 50's and 60's when the whole country was on expansion mode with Norman Rockwellish atmosphere.

About immigrating to Australia, it is definitely a personal choice. My brother says his move to australia was a lifestyle decision, not a financial one, because you can make more money in the US, simply because of the exchange rate and the number of opportunities available.

But if you want a laid-back life that involves going to the beach, eating out, warm weather, friendly and even appreciative native population, welcoming government, then Australia is definitely THE place to be.

tyehi_moro_ashish,
thank you dude for the infromation. It's cool to know that AusAID scholars can also work as self-funded students and its better than that post-grad students can work 30 hrs/week.

"Infact there is small community of ausaid students and thier family in of the suburbs in melbourne.... "
Can you kindly inform how I can get in touch with anyone one of them?

Its good to know that Melbourne is a great place to live. BTW, are you in melbourne now?

Thank you.
