NC leaders threaten to disobey the whip A number of Nepali Congress (NC) central leaders and MPs have threatened to disobey the party whip if in case the party decides to relent to the Maoist demand for immediate republic declaration and proportional representation system. At the meeting of the NC parliamentary party, on Sunday, MPs Gobinda Raj Joshi, Khum Bahadur Khadka, Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar and Binaya Dhoj Chand gave the warning. "The party Mahasamiti has agreed to decide on republic through the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly. If the leadership overturns this decision in the name of political compromise, we will not obey the party whip," Joshi told Kantipur.
