hey trying to start reading the books.. do you have any novel.. in mind and you suggest me to read
walkahead..heres one that has been on my mind for a while now(that im waiting for to fall on my lap from the heavens above hehe)

That guy is genious but its for serious reading..If you are just starting then may be you want to focus on some nepali or indian writers and then step up..

try palpasa cafe by narayan wagle. it is a good read in nepali. i read it on flights from ktm to usa last year. ghanchakkar by sanjib upreti is also a good one, also in nepali.

But Walkhead bro, could you please specify what type of Novels you are looking for? There are loads of good novels which I have gone through but it depends upon person's choice. What's yr taste? Romantic, spiritual, Science Fiction, suspesne or something else....
It could be really better if you just narrow down your kind of novels then you have no regret reading suggested novels.
Just for e.g. Da Vinci Code is a really famous book and liked by millions but I really did not enjoy that book, same is with Harry Porter, the whole world moved by those series but I donot know why I could not even complete half of the book. So it all depends upon the taste.
Right now Im reading,YESTERDAY IN BACKLANE by Bernice Rubens, its a kind of suspense-comic and romantic novel that won Booker Prize. And the other one Im going throung is SIDDHARTHA (its spritual fiction) by novel prize winner writer Hermann Hesse.
In Nepali I strongly recommend PALPASA CAFE as Jyapu bro said.

I would start with BP.
Yesterday in Black Lane didn't win the Booker. one of her earlier novels did. yeah before we reccomend tell us which genre you are interested?
I would say go with something thats not too complex if you are only starting to read. Something you would be interested in. I think Rushdie would be too complex for a begining reader. If you want to develop a habit and want to start I think you should go with something short, and I have nothing in mind that I could recommend! If you are upto reading something long but really inrteresting The Kite Runner is awesome. I like Sheldon's books too but I use to read them like 6 years ago. A lot of wow moments whole reading his work. Tell me your dreams is one of my favorites! Harry Potter is a fun read too, I got totally attached to him.
Just done with " The Kite Runner" . It good and simple .
Try " God of Small Things ' by Arundati Ray . That is another good piece of a novel .
How many of you like Samrat Upadhaya's books. I really dont find his books so worthy.

Here are my few selections as of now:
The Kite runner or Tuesdays with Morrie would be a good start as they are simple and engaging.
Inheritence of Loss, Hundred years of solitude, The namesake, Da Vinci Code are other good options.
Salman Rushdie is a genius but takes quite a toll out of you for infrequent readers like me.

Right now i am reading VS Naipaul's Mr. Biswas's house and it is really gripping.
I don't know what you guys find so steller in Shalman... I barely finished one of his book.. man was it a drag.. I might not be bright enough to relate to him, I guess.. I just find his narration really dry.. My favourite author is Gabriel Garcia Marquez.. Liked every single of his book I have read.. One hundred years of soltitude is a classic and so are all of his books.. Alchemist - one of my all time favourite. I also like Ernest Hemingway - Should be a good start. Read Hope in the Dark by Rebacca Solnit - not a novel but it really defined me as a person..
