Do Vedas support animal killing for Dashain?

 @ujl,
Ok..let me sink that. So you started with the meaning/reasoning of sacrifice solely using the Vedas as your foundations of arguement. You stated that animals' symbols were used, not really animals. Now I asked you 'then why even the symbols, why not other ways of sacrificing one's own lower attributes'...Now...and Now you are telling me that Vedas cannot be used for the reasoning?

I would highly appreciate if you could let this ignorant being know when to and not to use Vedas for reasonings and  when to for smritis.

Even before this, Brother, let me ask you this: Do you, yourself, honestly believe in this kind of defence? You clearly see, "yes symbol of goat, but not really of goat rather it's mental state', that you are in a slippery slope, right?

You say, "Goat itself is Brahman, but in the state of ignorance, it's mental states has been deluded.  So is the case with humans. Humans are deluded because of false knowledge and ignorance. In a nutshell, symbols merely represents the mental states (desire, lust, greed, sex impulse etc.)"

Then if someone gets so englightened to come up with the idea of 'symbolic' sacrifice, wouldn't it have been more direct, more effective to use his/her own symbol? Why go to goat? Let's say if you are trying to sacrifice your sexual desires (why would you, but that's an another topic), then why not make and burn your effigy with perhaps your penis sticking out..and go around the village with pride sharing the story. Wouldn't that be more effective to remind yourself when the desires start to swell?
