Here is my two cents if I may:
The problem we have in south asia is not the invasion of foreign culture but lacking in saving our own. When invasion happens, instead of fighting it back we surrender to it and try to assimilate it to our own. It is so worrysome that current movies you see are either copy of some old hindi flicks or some korean flicks. They all lack originality and lack what should be backbone of our culture, the presentation of nepali lifestyle. I have seen so many short films of nepali movie directors that makes such a wonderful portray of nepali life, but alas they never get into mainstream or they are never given chance, where as all the copy directors, who make cheap remakes of decades old hindi movies gets the mainstream movies all the time. Have you heard about the movie highway Deepak rauniyar is making? watching promos of it on youtube, I think it would be first real nepali movie, but he is raising 30k in kickstarter to give final touches to it. Such is misery. Have you seen Kutumba in concerts? They are succesful because they have originality. They portray our culture and do it in a signature way without copying anything. If you just can be original and give a quality content you don't need be afraid other culture is eating ours. People will be free to have choices and I am sure, nepali will love their own rather than others, but for it to happen there need to be quality that can compete.
