anti monarqi - it is your fundamental rights to what ever you like to do, but, it seems like you tend to overlook ground reality in Nepal. You always mentioned 250 years of monarchy. but never pointed out what was wrong in those 250 years. Have you ever analyzed our history and current situation in positive ways in the perspective of strategic location of Nepal between China and India and attitude of India towards Nepal even in British Raj, geo-political situation, ethnic diversity, land-locked situation, and so on. You have to see all these perspectives from historical point of view? If you analyze these aspects then you will get clear picture of Nepal. You have to also think why all parties had to run to New Delhi whenever there is a crisis in Nepal? Why they are asking India to interfere/intervene in Nepal to solve our internal problem? Do you think going for republic will solve such problem or escalate more? What will be the symbol of national unity in that scenario - India? We obviously neither want Nepal to be another Sikkim nor to remain as Bhutan. There are many countries which are following their great historical traditions by following constitutional monarchy, yet they are still progressing. Why should Nepal import any system which was never in practice before? There has to be effective check and balance in any system and monarchy is playing such role since 1990. The present situation is an interim system when countries reached in to dead-lock of crisis. Countries excercised all alternates; in my opinion there was no viable alternate left to save the country. Yes, there was one more alternate - to give the power to Maoists - but I am sure even you do not wnat such alternate to be selected (unless you yourself are Maosits). Therefore, I see NY City protest is aimless, waste of time and efforts and useless. This does not mean that you can not do such protest, you have every right to do so. Good luck.
