Bathroomcoffee, The people who spoke at the rally need not speak for anyone else. Whether one agreed with what they had to say or not, they spoke THEIR own respective minds. That is all we need in democracy -- for EVERY Nepali, including YOURSELF, to be free to speak his/her own mind. You'd be misfortuned if you still believe that we need someone -- a "father figure" -- to speak for us. You definitely would be at a disadvantage with regards to your own personal growth if you think the King speaks your mind, and you choose to keep quiet. Same goes to all those who believe political leaders, or Maoist leaders, do/should speak their respective minds. If anyone came to the rally hoping that any of the speakers would speak their minds, then they too first need to free themselves of the "slave mentality". Whether one likes what s/he hears is a matter of debate in a DEMOCRATIC PLATFORM afterwards. So, regardless of what the speakers had to say, I personally gained a lot by being able to make a stance, by having utilized my right to freedom of expression, by being able to express my solidarity with all those who believe in OURSELVES, and by letting our voices of refusal to be enslaved by the King, or the political leaders, be heard, albeit in a small way. I am sure the same goes for a lot of others who attended the rally.
