what are some good filims about nepal and the himalayan region? they don't have to be american movies, be we have to be able to access them here. meaning they can't be obscure nepali filims. although, i know "numafung" is now available through some organizations here in the states. there are other movies like "himalaya/caravan," "little buddha" (although keanu reeves as lord buddha is terribly offensive!), "kundun." what are some others?

Thank you Palpali for the synopsis on the movie. While Che, was known as the true revolutionary by many, he is perceived as a parasite by a few skeptics. I would like to see the movie, however. Bedrock, enjoy the movie and let us know your impressions.

Finally saw "Motorcycle Diaries". Amazing movie. I don't want to give out too much about the movie, you've gotto watch it. The movie is well made, superb acting, really funny at times, beautiful latin American landscape, at some parts reminded me of some of Nepali trekking route, especially in the mountains of Peru. I found Che's life was transfromed in the similar way as Siddartha Gautam when prince Gautam came across old person, sick person and the dead.

You've gotto watch this movie in a theater to get the most out of it.

Bed Rock in what sense you are comparing CHe with Buddha ? Indeed, you make sense I guess, they both gave up their livelyhood for sake of humankind, didn't they? But again Rock you are making me laugh. You know what? I am comparing Buddha with Che in absolutely in different sense. I am imagining Buddha carrying gun and ploting a war. Anyway I am not making fun of you neither of CHE.

You are right BedRock, "Motor Cycle Diaries" is an awesome make in movie history. It is inspiring. I am sure if I start my journey from East Nepal to West in a bicycle I will definately go crazy to see people suffering. But I will not have guts to be reformist or say, revolutionist as CHE, and nobody will have, I guess. Che was indeed a Hero. Only few people like Che does exist. I can't believe Babu Ram Moron Bhattarai is potraying himself as Ernesto CHE. That moron doesn't even come close to CHE's "Khuta ko Nang".

Che was primirily Gurriella Warrior but doctor by profession. He was the originator of Gurriella Warfare. Now he is consider as National Hero in Cuba though he was from Argentina. And Time Magazine even declared him as an icon of twentieth century. Despite of his official rank in Cuba during Castro regime he was self mobilized to conduct some underground gurriella activities in Congo, Bolivia, Columbia etc etc against imperialism (american) and autocracy (american's puppets). He was then finally hunted down in Bolivian forest and killed, by CIA backed Bolivian army. . Sorry guys I am so lured by CHE personality, so couldn't stop myself to write little bit about him.

Well about movies or makes..here are some of my Favorites.

Chanakya --- All time great episode.
Schindler's List -- True Story about an icon (Oscar Schindler) who saved 1100 jews from being exterminated.
War and Remembrance -- Awesome episode on Holocaust.

Ummm... I haven't watch much of the Nepali Movie but some docu Drama like "Ujjeli" and "Honey Hunters of Nepal" are great. Oh Yes, can't forget "Laal Purja", "Raat", "Pandra Gate". I have heard so much about "Darpaan Chyaya" and I watched it in VCD, it sux - I think Dilip is the worst actor in our industry, isn't he?

pisces- I knew I would have to do some explanation for making such a bold statement for comparing between the two. But I was only comparing the flash point that transformed both of their life.

Che was from a well off family, educated to be a medical doctor, with such a beautiful girl from such a wealthy family. Had it not been for this trip, he probably wouldn't have come across these poor indegenious people who were oppressed by the rich in their own land and wouldn't have given up his life fighting for their rights. That was the flash point in his life, and I was just comparing that to Siddhartha (mind you, I haven't said Buddha yet) who was a rich prince with a wife, whose flash point was when he saw the poor, the sick and the dead on trips of his town.

My knowledge of Che is very limited however, I would be doing little reading about his life though. Indeed a very inspiring personality.
