what are some good filims about nepal and the himalayan region? they don't have to be american movies, be we have to be able to access them here. meaning they can't be obscure nepali filims. although, i know "numafung" is now available through some organizations here in the states. there are other movies like "himalaya/caravan," "little buddha" (although keanu reeves as lord buddha is terribly offensive!), "kundun." what are some others?

Hey Palpali: I know, sometimes these threads take wild turns. Swaati started Only in America thread and see where it is now. By the way, I did see "Daughters of Everest" last Sunday at Freer Gallery in DC. I enjoyed it. It could have been little powerful.

How come nobody mentioned Caravan?
It is a great movie and very captivating.
Ujeli and Numafung are also nice.

wow- someone went in to the archives to dig this one up!

sitara, i saw the motorcycle diaries. i really enjoyed it and the acting was great. some fantastic humor in it too! the movie seems to be a pretty accurate portrayal of che's early years, at least based on the little bit that i know and have read. but, throughout the course of the movie, you almost feel yourself being transformed the way he was, in terms of awareness and compassion. there was also some beautiful footage of south american landscapes and interesting images of some of the indigineous peoples there.

enjoy!

The last one I watched was the incredibles and I immensely enjoyed it... It was like my child hood dream to watch super-heroes in action came true. hehe... and the funniest thing was that the movie was supposed to be for the kids and the theater was full of adults. Not even a single kid. :) Might not be a must-watch movie but worths every penny... :P

i took an initiative to show Himalaya (Caravan)at my university during International Education Week. Everyone appreciated it.
Ladycroft, the last time I had been to Denver, I saw a DVD of Himalaya at Virgin. I am sure you could also buy it online.
