Manishatlawton,

have some sympathy and logic.  Don't defend some drunk driver who killed six people.

He was driving around 90-95 Km pH . That is over 60 mPH. That is the motorway or highway speed. Imagine hitting somebody at that speed on motorway. The victim would have no chance of survival.  How can somebody even drive at that speed in the speed of kathmandu?

Yea, the driver did commit a mistake. Driving at that speed in Kathmandu's road, that too after drinking, is a serious mistake. But I think that the pedestrians' carelessness has also contributed to this accident. Out of the 6 people killed, 4 were walking on the footpath, but 2 were walking in the middle of the road...Well, the road was almost empty as it was already past midnight....But does that mean that one should walk in the middle of the road, instead of the footpath? The speeding car first hit those 2 people walking in the middle of the road, lost control, then hit the wall of the bhotahity subway, broke the iron bar and then hit the other 4 on footpath...If all of those people had been walking on the footpath, perhaps this kind of serious accident might not occured at all...Just my thought...Though its natural to sympathize with the victims, no matter what...

Everyone,

Please do not mix everything with politics. I know that Nepal is having a huge political crisis right now, but some reckless driver killing 6 Innocent lives has nothing to do with current political situation in Nepal. Let the judiciary system take an action against the driver for his/her wrong doing. All these protests and blaming the government and the politicians doesn't make any sense. Let's look at it this way, even if the government had posted the speed limit sign, aren't there people who would break the law. There is such thing as common sense as well, who would drive 90 Km/hr in narrow streets of Kathmandu if you are sane. The driver most have been out of his mind or intoxicated.

Manish in whichever town,
Listen punk, I'm 29 and I've been driving in Kathmandu since I was 18. Driving is not a right, its a privileged. So, when you drink and drive, you're most likely to the same stuff your jackass friend did. I'm well aware of how people in Motorbikes handle their bikes. I wasnt surprised when you had to pay that much money. Naya bike, naya josh timile pani galti ta garerai haneko hola ni ta!! It doesn't matter how good/bad/humble or generous he was................he freaking killed not only 1 but 6 people. Now there are 4 families without parents. You compare that with money??? Your friend was driving a honda civic that costs around 25-26 lakhs. So, i'm pretty sure his family has enough money to properly take care of the injured had he stopped after killing some. There's a distinct impact of a railing like item on the trunk of the car like as you would find it if you hit a railing dead straight. Therefore, its highly likely that your friend backed up and killed the rest of them.

Manche ko bichar afno circle ko friend haru ko jastai huncha jasto malai lagcha. Jaba circle ma timi jasta sathi haru jasle (had i killed, it would have just been 20000!!) bhanera sunaune haru hunchan taba samma niyam lai matrai gali garera kei hunna.

Had it been your father/mother/brother or sister among the dead, i'm sure your tone would have been different. You, your friend both are fools who compare money with people's lives.  I think that asshole needs to be locked up for the rest of his life without parole. It's all about doing the right thing mo-fo!!! Oh my freaking lord.............what have we become!!!!!

samir28....I guess I was missing some eyewitness news...what I heard was they were walking on the sidewalk but he was about to hit a motorcycle and try to avoid that and lost control and hit the curve and hit folks walking on the sidewalk

He said he lost control of the car due to high speed while trying to avoid hitting a motorcycle. However, eyewitness accounts collected by the police suggest that he was trying to overtake the motorcycle in high speed. Police also said during the press conference that Singh was drunk and driving the car (Ba 4 Cha 8030) at about 80 km/hr.

Mr hyde..I think you are wrong there...In my opinion UML leaders aka loosers on election are trying to reach out to the public. This doesnot have anything to do with indian citizen being the victims in that accident. Even the PM (another looser in election) had a talk with the security chiefs regarding this accident. But I'm glad they are reaching out to the public. Finally they learned it by hard (UML Neta ko Ghaita ma gham lage jasto chha)

For me it's a serious crime, not the accident. I don't care about the citizenship of victims. 6 people got dead by some reckless driver. It's a homicide. He is should get the punishment as a murderer.

My only curiosity is:

From now on, will  so high a body like Home Ministry or the Prime Minister get involved in traffic accident investigation though the Police Investigators should be doing so on any kind of fatal accidents. Isn't there a redundancy here? Why did the Home Ministry not get involved when more than two hundred people died of cholera in some remote regions of Nepal if they really want to reach out. Shouldn't the government compensate the family members of the victims of the cholera outbreak as well?

Bottomline is, any incident or accident should fall under precise jurisdiction so that there will be no confusion among departments/ministries or discriminate priority in handling of crises.

One observation I have found here is: People make statements here on Sajha but very few attempt to justify them.

Mr Hyde..MAKUNE did get involved into that cholera after he got back from his trip. Also regarding the compensate to cholera victims MAKUNE did say they were going to compensate Rs10,000/victim's family. (Thats when Dr Dixit issued his article Katti sastro katro or something).  But I don't think Miniter Rawal said anything about comnpensating the victims family inreturn he did say he was going to talk to the PM and ministers after the holiday i.e long weekends in nepal). But the police forces did say that they were going to compensate 5000/ per victim. Also regarding Home minister reaching out to the public this is the second incident. If Iam not mistaken I think there was another incident where the home minister did reach out to the public ( I dunno if its UML govt or Maobadi Govt).  Will post that article once I come across that article again

How does this fool defines getting drunk...He was so impaired and could not see anything and on his interview yesterday he says I was NOT too Drunk...

Listen man, I don't know if you're from Mars or somewhere but he was drunk at some level and killed 6 people and you still don't think he made a mistake................how lame can someone be!!! I know it's hard to see someone close to you in that position but what happened was bad and he definitely made a judgmental mistake at a whole new level. I'm sorry brother but that's life and you friend/cousin gotta pay for that.
