Hey everybody,
lets start a thread about any experiences and stories on how your life as a IT consultant started and how it ended up and if not ended up then how its going and all the whole nine yards. I'm thinking of joining a similar field and wanna know how it is out there for IT consultants.
I've heard of some dajusbhais didisbahinis doing pretty good and some not even getting a project yet.
But lets hear some from you.

I did a lil bit of research on SAP. Looks like its a good field to be in in terms of future demand and the money that can be made. I'm myself looking forward to be in some training classes sometime soon. If you want more information on SAP as well as things currently happening in the SAP world, go to this website www.searchsap.com
Let me know if you get any updates.

To: Upadhyay, Pritesh
Subject: RE: Hello

Hello Pritesh Ji,
Good Day,

Thanks for the offer, favor and effort that you-ve been making for us.
Santosh sir has been also helping us and is really appreciable.

We-ve thought to apply for the H1B visa process. As the deadline is
approaching near, please tell us the procedures that we need to follow
so
that we could proceed.

Besides, we-re eager to know about

1. By when and how can I accompany my spouse after I get my visa?
Your spouse can apply for a depended visa right after you get your H1B,
No
guaranties from our side that she would receive it. As much as I would
like
to help, unfortunately it will be between you and American Embassy at
that
time. We will have no Problem providing you with supporting document
stating
you work for us. You might want to talk to an Immigration lawyer or
contact
Embassy on exact details.
2. How much is the monthly living expenses (including lodging and
fooding)
over there?
We will take care of you during the training process for first 2 months
for
sure; after that it will cost you at least $1000 a month on Living
expenses.
3. As we-ll be getting visa through your company, how can we
transfer our
visa to another company? Since we-ve to search another job after 2
months
and our job not yet confirmed.
We have lot of connection and we will be helping you with your resume
creation and interview Process. Please keep in mind that we only make
money
when you get a job, having said that you will be working as our employee
and
just doing consulting work with other Companies. So you will not need to

transfer you H1B visa. Once we help you get a job then we will make
sure
that you are atleast receiving 45K a year as your compensation. In other

words 3rd party company will pay us directly and you will receive a Pay
check from us.
4. What could be the minimum monthly salary or hourly wage once we
get the
job? Please provide your rough estimation. I would like to just confirm
how
much time we need to recover our investment, since $10,000 is lot for us
and
we might need different ways on managing it.
You will be paid at least 45k a year once you get a job. On average it
has
taken up till 4 months for most of our other candidate to get a job with
our
help but no guaranties. I am not trying to scare you but at the same
time I
want to absolutely clear on expectations I am setting with you.
5. Do the photocopies of our certificates need to be attested
legally? Is it
mandatory?
Yes it needs to be attested and absolutely mandatory. If for some reason
you
provide us with false document and don-t get your visa because of that,
then
at that point we won-t be able to refund your deposit. Please do keep in

mind that our cost is lot higher then just 3000 to process your visa and
if
you have any doubt about your documentation then I suggest you stop the
process right now.
6. Can we send the scanned copies of our documents?
No, FedEx or DHS please, Fell free to contact other candidates and send
us
Documents together and share the cost.

I think I-ve been putting piles of questions. Please don-t get
embarrassed,
since we need to invest lot of money.

Again I am not trying to be rude but at the same time I dont want to
promise anything that I wont be able to deliver at the end. There is a
reason on why Santosh Gyawali has referred you to us and we want to make

sure that we live up to his expectations.

Santosh mama please dont hesiate to forward this email to other
candiates
as they also seem to have similar questions.

SAP will be killed after 2008 as Oracle and Microsoft are coming with better warehousing and Analysis services. SAP will be eliminated completely from usa within 2011.SAP was competent against Oracle until last year, this year oracle left sap way behind. SAP succeeded because Oracle kept on pushing for new versions 8i,9i 10g etc with more licensing push until 2005.Now they are coming with 11g next year with a single platform for warehousing, reporting, functional,db admin all in one product which you can use from a single console.SAP's biggest strength has been on the erp side, oracle's push for integrated product in 11g will eliminate sap completely by 2011,that's the oracle's practice managers are saying at least for now.

That Upadhya guy seems to be running out of nepalese people here in the US to be looking for people from Nepal.

This is what is called leg pulling. Very typical Nepalese mentality. Why are some folks so bothered when someone is trying to do business and make money? Don't you guys believe in Capitalism? Think broader.

It costs GAP about $2.00 to make a T-Shirt in India and they sell it for $20 - $30 at their store in US.

Best Buy sells 10" USB cable for $38.99. Same cable at walmart is $20. Same cable online is $10.

It costs $2000 - $3000 for some people to file political asylum with a lawyer while some people take their chance and file by themselves and it's free of cost.

It costs $4500 for some people for their Green Card process....for some their company pays for everything while some pay $8000 plus.

So get my point!

Maila dai,
Let me ask you few questions to you directly
1. There are 1000's of nepalese student looking for H1 sponsor here in US (see all these sajha thread) and he is sending an e.mail to folks in Nepal asking for 3000 advance deposit. what was thr reason behind this.
2. When called to find out about the refund ( deposit) he didn't answer the question instead he said its all in that e.mail. I'm the one paying for one of my friend and he doesnot want to disclose the information after he found out that I was in US.

Looking at these 2 points I doubt that he sponsors H1 instead he will get that 3000 dollars from 10 -15 folks and do the same thing 3 years from now.

Bottom line is He is from Dallas area what you expect ( No offense folks from Dallas)

Guys, Becareful with fraud related staffing agencies. I recommend all of you not to pay money for startup staffing companies like this dude talking about in email. I believe USCIS fee/Attorney fee might sum up to $3000 which has to be paid by someone in order to file the h1b but as i said earlier becareful with con artists. This guy seems to be a Con for asking 10K for h1b sponsorship since it should not cost a anything. Guneuine employers not talking about money openly in forum. According to law, H1B employer can not charge any money for h1b from the candidates however most of the employer take the Needed fee of $3000 as a deposit in order to file the H1b and in stance of joining the company, they will refund the ammount (typically after working for 3-4 months with petitioning company).

In other hand, H1B could get approved from the US however US Consulate in kathmandu is not required to issue to the visa if they think there is no outstanding job oppertunity in US through the said employment the h1b petition, they will issue the 221g In order to show the job oppertunity, company must provide project specifications, contracts and purchase order to US consulate. Startup company like we discussing here most likely does not have anything in such nature which will ultimately result into denail of visa and revokation of H1B petition.

I suggest people try to come to us on h1b visa should contact reliable staffing company which has good placing histrory as well as has job oppertunity in US. Paying 3000 to 4000 for administrative costs as well as Govt. fee will not hurt since you can claim that money from h1b sponsor once you start working in US. Eitherway, becareful with con artists and scam-artists who is just trying to get your money and no results.

Sheetalb,

Well it depends upon which technology are you looking for? Be careful, As you said they promise big thing. Don't listen to what they say. Ask them why they have interest on you.
Before joining the company try to find a lot about the company like pay, expense pay, do they give pay stub, what about H1b paper etc....
Try to visit the site
target=_blank>http://desicrunch.com"> DESI CRUNCH
Where you will find review of these consulting companies.

Good Luck
