Republican, you did not mention that you and I have same amount of coins and also nothing about overlaping of coins. So is it to get smaller heap of coins than yours?

Well, everybody is raising the hands, so I think not only one but all three would know they are wearing red caps, would not they?

ritthe jasus, karma - you are more or less correct. there's a little more to the solution.

to make sure you win, you have to go first and place the coin right at the center of the table - that is the only point on the circle which doesn't have a "reflection" point. after that, every spot on the table has a "reflection", i.e. an exact opposite point. so each time the other person places a coin on the table, you place your coin on the "reflection" spot. this ensures that you will always be the last person to place the coin on the table.

thats what i meant if I put a coin in center, the rest circles need even number of coins to complete a circle. I realised if I didnot put coin in circle even 2 or 4 coins can fill small tables, but if I put one at the centre it always requires odd number of coins. isn't that right republic

No, they won't know, Swatantratagaamy.

Okay, for example, A can see B and C wearing red cap; but how'd he know what he is wearing? If you think it is because he can see B and C raising their hands; but, B and C can raise their hands simplyt because they can see each other's red caps!

Ahh! You even haven't given a try! At least attempt it, then you never know, when you will get the right answer. You made very good logic when the case was people with two red and one black cap. The logic goes the same fashion, just that is goes little deeper than that one, and that is it!

:)

I keep making mistakes, even when correcting the mistakes..:(

"just this one goes little deeper than that one, and that is it."

Okay, a hint: Think of a scenario where X will think what would have happened had he been wearing a black cap, not a red cap....

I am pretty sure, you will get it now. ;)

got this slackdemic ....... X, Y and Z all raised their hands but noone could guess what color their hat was ........ for that to be true everyone of them have to be looking at 2 red hats .......... so X knew he had red had too because Y and Z were confused too. Howz that ???

hehe, that's not logically correct!

Just for the sake of this question, say B and C are dumber than me :P, so A, the smartest one has to find it with factual logic, not with fuzzy logic.

I told you, think of the scenario where A makes a conditional statement, "If I were wearing black cap..."

common I am right, may be I explained wrong. Let me explain you again.

A, B and C,

If I had black, by simple logic B and C could claim that theirs were red caps, since A didnot have black cap but red B and C were confused too ... so A took advantage of their reason to be confused and claimed he had red cap .... I meant this by each were looking at 2 red caps so were confused.

I =A, but if B and C were too dumb not to know they have red cap even after looking at one black cap I don't know how to solve this

No, they are not confused. They all are trying to figure out who could be wearing the red cap. You have to logically justify it!

Just take it easy and keep that play in your mind...Maybe you can come up with right answer tomorrow.

I gotta go, too. Good night!

Hehe, swatantratagaamy, don't think all night then! :P

I just mean, it is not something you sit down and do with paper and pencil. The logic can just be reasonable when you are playing that in mind.

I will reveal the answer tomorrow. Good night, all! :)

Lets say,
If A was wearing black cap, he can see B and C wearing red caps.
since A , B and C are all raising hands B and C could have easily claimed to be wearing red had with simple logic. A with black hat would raise hand looking at B and C, but B and C could raise hands only at looking each other. So B and C could easily conclude that each were raising hands looking at each other.

But in this situation since A, B and C are all wearing red hats and all raising hands, A would think B and C were raising hands looking at each other, C would think A and B were raising hands looking at each other and B would think A and C were raising hands looking at each other. None could see black colored cap to comclude that ones cap was red. so as A was more smart than B and C, A claimed to have red cap.

Getting tipsy helps you see through the problem. :)

If A was wearing a black cap, then B and C both would see only ONE red hat each. Since all of them would be raising their hands, B then should know that he should have a red hat since C raised his hand. Same with C too.

But if A REALLY has a red hat, then B and C would not know the color of their hats just by observing the raised hands. So, then A knows that he must have a red hat since B and C (both) do not know the color of their hats. Hence, A claims that he has a red hat.
