I really need help on reinstalling windowsxp in my computer, how do you reinstall windowsxp without losing any datas, if you could please type down step by step process for reinstalling xp, that'd b really really ppreciated and yah without losing any documents or things..

well, pop in the XP cd and install and do not format when you install XP, so you will have your previous folder where it was. you will just install a copy of XP on top of older copy of XP. might slow your computer down, but after you get to your file, create a back up, put it into cd or something, then install XP again or format your drive thru the XP cd!

what are you trying to do exactly? did your XP files got corrupted? your OS don't load?

Could you explain more on that?
My computer's been acting really really weird lately, it's got virus and stuff so how do you do the backup again? k, i was wondering, can't i just umm burn all the datas in a cd and then re-install them back .. or could you just write down step by step process of what to do after you put the winxp cd in?

Read all instructions before you do anything!

1. put in your xp cd
2. begin installation
3. restart
4. when screen asks hit any key to boot from cd... press any key
5. then you wait till it installs all the keyboard and raid drivers
6. then it will ask you where to install the XP, pick your regular drive, where you had xp.
7. if it says, windows already has a copy in this drive, install anyway? Y/N, press Y
8. Then if it takes you somehow you pressed wrong key, or something, if you go to FORMAT button, PRESS L, do not press L, or else you will lose your data
9. hit F8 to agree with lisences and crap
10. install, should take about hour or so depending on your PC

the files should be where they were.
BUT Read this before you continue
IF you have Virus in your computer, and installing a new copy of a XP is not going to remove your Virus from computer. To completley remove the virus, if you want to install a fresh copy of XP, then you have to format, and lose your files.
if you don't want to lose your files, and rid virus, installing XP again won't help, but to make it easy, restart your computer, when you see your LOGO of your computer, hit F8 repeatedly, then on the menu, select, SAFEMODE WITH NETWORKING then hit enter, and you will be in safemode with internet access.
after that, you can go to website - housecall.trendmicro.com/start_corp.asp and chose US and begin installing the file and scan your computer. DO NOT CLOSE THE SCAN UNTIL IT IS FINISHED. COULD TAKE UPTO 1 HR or so. When you scan, scan your FULL PC, your main drives, C: D: whatever, excpet your CD DRIVES.
then after finding viruses, delete the virus, and restart your computer.
let me know what happens after that. if you could please download HIJACK from and post a log, it would be helpful too. google hijack and download! and scan and save log, copy the log and post!

Okay okay, well my cd doesnt seem to be working so can't do nothing unless it starts working, CDROM does detect the cd but doesn't show up anything neither does it play anything, not a particular CD, all kinda CDs, like if you click right on the Dc Drive (D:) and click on eject, it works...You know anything about these stuff? guys.. girls?

5. Start the virus scan, scan and delete the viruses you found. Some time you might have to restart your computer, if required, do it!

7. Install by clicking "Continue" and click install
8. Scan thru microsoft spyware.
9. Remove the files it found to be harmful
10. Restart your computer
11. Run the HIJACK this and post log again!

well wat em i supposed to do..I'm confused, there's just a small box that says "Windows Genuine Advantage" -- says:

There's this code thing -- X5JJ5L7 and there's nothing to click on i hit the enter key but doesnt work...:(:(

Hey, btw I'm using umm safe mode and I have lotta virus scaning programs in my computer so is it not okay to umm scan from spyware doctor and then delete the stuff?

spydoctor scans SPYWARE, not viruses!
you could have viruses that lets in spyware from "backdoor"!
so no matter how many times you delete them, it would come back up anyway!
so scan for the viruses, i prefer housecall than mcafee or norton or other!
