I used to study in that small town 8 years back....
just love tht place

Took a bus from Dharan. From zero point, made the right turn. winding road led up to bhedetar. descended to leuti bagar. crossed tamar. climbing up again, then descended a little then gradual ascend brought the jyan to dhankuta bus stop. thado bazar, tudikhel on the right, gokundeswar school, tallo kopche, bihibare hat, mathlo kopche, salleri ban...

Been to dhankuta but that place did not look vibrant to me...it was a subdued town. Bihibare haat was the only place I really enjoyed (haat ko din parera hola).

then the journey continued up north...debreas/kagate...hile.... hile was fun  :)

Been there twice. Once all the way up to the Sidhuwa and another time, only up to the Dhankuta Bazar. It was nice.

मेरो बाल्यकालसँग धनकुटाको गहिरो सम्बन्ध छ। म त्यस्तै १,२ क्लासमा पढ्थें, बाल संसार बोर्डइङ स्कुलमा। अहिले त्यो स्कुल छ कि छैन थाहा छैन।बिहीवार सेतो uniform लगाउनु पर्थ्यो। सेतो जुत्तामा फोहोर लाग्दा चक दल्न त्यहीँ सिकेको।
४५ साल को भुइँचालो जाँदा हामी त्यही थियौ। भुइँचालोमा घर झोलुङो जस्तो हल्लाएको हिजै जस्तो लाग्छ। माथिबाट माटो, इटा बर्बर झर्दै थियो। बुवा, ममिले अर्को कोठाबाट खाट मुनी पस भनेर कराउनु भयो। मेरो  २ वटा दाई र म खाट मुनी पस्न खोजेको कहाँ बाट सक्नु। खाट मुनी त suitcase नै suitcase रहेछ। चियाउन मात्र पाइयो। पछी भुइँचालो सकिएपछी बाहिर निस्कियौ। धन्न हामी कसैलाई केही भएन। सबको घर सोत्तर भएको थियो। मान्छेहरु रुदै, कराउदै, भागा भाग, दौडा दौड। त्यो बेलामा नर्क भनेको यस्तै हुन्छ होला जस्तो लागेको थियो। भदौको दिन गर्मी थियो।  कोही कोही लोग्ने मान्छेहरु त बुढीको म्याक्सी लगाएर निस्किएका थिए। पछी हामी माथ्लो कोप्चे सर्यौ। तल चाइँ घर वालाहरुको  कपडा पसल थियो। फेरी भुइँचालो आउँछ भनेर हामी २०,२५ जना मान्छे त्यही पसलमा एक हप्ता जस्तो सुत्यौ। पछी भुइँचालो पिडितहरुलाई राहत सामाग्री हेलीकप्टरबाट ल्याउँथ्यो। हेलीकप्टरको आवाज सुन्ने बित्तिकै हामी माथ्लो कोप्चेबाट गुटुटु दौडेर टुँडिखेल पुग्थिम, हेलीकप्टर हेर्न। प्याराफिटमा बसेर हेलीकप्टर उड्ने  बेलामा मान्छेहरुको टोपी उडाको हेरेर मरी मरी हाँस्थिम।
बदाम, सुन्तला, उखु, सरिफा, अंबा त कत्ती कत्ती। एक चोटि मैले बदाम र सरिफा धेरै खाएर two way non spot भयो अनी त राता रात hospital लग्नु परेको थियो।

बिहिबारे हाटको चाहल पहल, सल्लेरी बनको सुबाश, रानी बनका एैसेलु, रानी बनमा समातेका गंगटा, उत्तरपानी को नमिठो बोझो, हिलेको पिरो थोक्पा सबै स्‍मृतिमा ताजै छन र सधैं रही रहने छन।

I am not from dhankuta but i am very much familiar with that place and surroundings. I love dharan dhankuta road ; that is the highway I used to go every year to my home. I miss those days when Buses used to be so crowded to go to Terhathum specially in Dashain time and we used to sit in hoot (chhat) enjoying the cold weather outside. I can not forget the tongba which I used to enjoy in Hile bazar. You can not imagine the roads from Hile to Terhathum; it is so rough.. so risky but I used to enjoy it alot....I really miss that place ....that is my place... I really wanna be there...

i have also same experience. spent my childhood in dhakuta. nakalli balsansar school ajhai cha in the same place near police station. especially i miss badam and suntalo, hile bajar and pakhribas.

I have plenty of fond memories of Aankhisalla and places around there(Uttarpani, Khintang Devi). Hile is probably one of the best hill station in Nepal. Pakhribaas is another great place. Dharan- Dhankuta highway is fun. Bhedetaar ko charles point, thukpa and snow. Most of all, nothing is better than Dhankute Biscuit. oh...Dhankuta, i miss u.

oho obama. Tyo dhankute biscuit kya mitho huncha. I have never been to Dhankuta. But one of my Aunt had home in Dhankuta. whenever she returned from Dhankuta she brought that biscuit. That biscuit can never be found in Kathmandu.

cha ni balsansar aile ta 10 class samma cha ni balsansar ma. ma balsansar padheko hoina Nakkali. but i know fight about deep and balsansar. mero sathi haru thiyo teha padhne.

तरहराबाट केही माथि गएपछि सेउती खोलाको पुल आउँछ, जसको अघि पछि "HUMPS FOR HALF MILE" भन्ने साइन्बोर्ड राखिएको छ (वा थियो)। अनि सालघारी छिचोल्दै अलिअलि हो कि होइन जस्तो उकालो लाग्दै धरान छिरिन्छ औद्योगिक क्षेत्रलाई बाँया पारेर। उकालो लाग्दै भानुचोक पुगेपछि बस परिवर्तन गर्नु पर्थ्यो त्यो बेला। अहिले त काठमाडौंबाट सीधा सेवा छ रे म्याङ्लुङसम्मै।
त्यो बेलाको प्रख्यात कोशी सुपर एक्स्प्रेसबाट झरेर बसन्तपुर जाने थोत्रा बसहरु चढ्नु पर्थ्यो। बसहरु समय तालिका अनुसार नगएर १२०० रुपैंया उठेपछि छुट्थे। त्यो बेलाको भाडा दर: धरान- धनकुटा रु २५ (५२ किमी), हिले ९ (१३ किमि, बाटो कालोपत्रे गर्न अघि १२ लाग्थ्यो), सिधुवा १० (११ किमी) र बसन्तपुर १२ (११ किमि)। हिलेदेखि माथिको बाटो कच्ची थियो (अझै पनि कच्ची नै छ जस्तो लाग्छ), र सिधुवादेखि ठाडो उकालो भएकोले भाडा दर पनि महँगो।
धरानको छाता चोक छेउमा त्यहाँको प्रख्यात केशर (हो कि केशब हो) पुस्तक पसल थियो। त्यसैको अगाडिको पसलमा मम खाइएको थियो। ममको तौल पनि एउटैको आधा किलो होला, अनि एउटा प्लेटमा दुई मम, हाफ प्लेट खाए एउटा आउँथ्यो क्यार। त्यहिंबाट हो क्यारे चतरा जाने बाटो छुट्टीने। बाटो पनि जीर्ण, त्यहाँ जाने ट्याक्सीहरु पनि त्यस्तै।

धनकुटातिर लाग्दा नागबेली सडकको उकालो, अनि धरान र शर्दु खोलाको सुन्दर द्रीष्य। उकालो लाग्दै गर्दा बिस्तारै सालका रुखहरुको बाहुल्यलाई सल्लाका रुखहरुले प्रतिस्थापन् गर्दै जान्छन्। भेंडेटारमा चिया खान बस रोकिन्छ। चिसो हावाका साथ वारीपरिका सुन्दर द्रिष्यहरु हेर्दाइ चिया खाएपछी ओरालो लागेर लेउती खोलाको किनारतिर झर्यो, अनि एकैछिनमा मूलघाटमा तमोर तरी उकालो लाग्यो, धनकुटा पुग्यो।

सार्है नै रमाइला भएको थियो पूर्वको यात्रा। मर्नु अघि एक चोटी फेरि त्यता पाइला टेक्न पाइएला कि फेरि।                

Hey nakkali keti, i also went to Bal Sansar a long long time ago. i went to UKG and 1 there. I still remember that song students used to sing "Pabitra mandir gyaan ko, bal sansar vidhyalaya hamro, purna karai vidhyalaya .... banaula guru abhivawak ho..gaurabantit garib deshlai banauchau saath milera....pragati pathma" that was an awesome and very inspiring song.
i still remember Naribel ko biscuit and suntala, ukhu, junaar, bhogatey etc etc.
That big tree when u came down from bal sansar, when we came down the hill is still in my memory. tyo bal sansar ko chipleti , jaahan ma darai darai chipleti khelthe. tyo moti madam jashle ekdin class maa, ma ra mero auta saathilai autai belt le kammar ma bandhera punishment diyeko thiyo. I still remember they would make us learn all the math tables by heart, it could be scary if u didn't know.
pakhribaas ma jada kheri ko yatra, dherai kharayo haru, thulo thulo pigs, nicely ripen oranges, cold air, bright sunshine. This is still vivid in my memory.
i still remember. i was a kid. I had my birthday after a few days, and there was this girl called Bunu and many other frens. they said they would give me eraser and some said they would give me this and that on my birthday. but i came with a bunch of sweets on my birthday, and i remember they had already forgotton those erasers and everything. hahhahaha. it was so much fun. Everything was valuable when i was a kid. everything had priceless beauty in it.
Dhankuta ko bus stop pani mero dimaag ma ajhai jhal jhali airako cha.
salleri ban ma hiking gako, Danda ma basera changa udaako. woow those days were so cool.
mero daddy ko service teti khera dhankuta ma thiyo. I left Dhankuta after i passed grade 1 and have never gone back. Wish some day, I could go to Dhanuta and pakhribas for a visit, stop by in vedetaar and dharan and pay a visit to buda subba, and remember how as a kid i travelled all these places, silently observing nature and its endless beauty
