i dunno about how the party went but i want to share something that utterly disappointed me........
i was callled to play the background in the opening and i sincerely practiced for that...i even sacrificed one of my important classes and a couple of days at my work......
but yesterday they just skipped our part and the excuse was that there was no time for it.....i know they started it in nepali time..but what the heck about the time we wasted 4 them.....
it's pitiful, nepalese people can be irresponsible to this limit.......

Well said Sundar dai,
Yet, I urge you to bring some more technical perfection in such programs since you are one of the organizers in many programs. I don't know much about the expences but still I think $25.00 per person can afford a lot better. And all such programs should be fun and unity oriented.

sundar dai
i dint do that to quench my thirst or whatever........
this was not my problem only but i saw many people pissed off and even the friends who were there only hoping to see me play..........n i never knew who gave up the idea of playing....
i really liked the rest of the program and have been very aware of progress done by gbnc and others.......but when many had a complain n i was involved too, thatwas what i did......n what sin did i commit in raising a complain without a slightest trace of denouncement???? what is that long preach for.........
i haven't condemned anyone personally.....n by no chance have any complains to u......n by no way, i have hidden my identity, people do know me by this name..............
no body can drag anyone to anything, but u can lure the artists towards these kinds of programs and make ur programs the best u can......n u can prove that coming to these programs is not just the waste of time(which most the have their opinions about)
sundar dai u r senior to me n u have been nice to me in the past ..i was not here to argue n not writing this to defend ur counterattack..........

No no don't even try that...had you just simply complained it would have been a different matter, but you went on the verge of insult and MOST definately denounced the program, maybe you did not pin point but you generally blamed the entire organizers, so do not try to say you were just simply complaining.

"it's pitiful, nepalese people can be irresponsible to this limit......."

"the gbnc and other parties have a lot of things to correct........they better figure out how to encourage ppl and grab their attention"

that's just a to name a few. And do not say you are not trying to defend yourself to the counter attack, OF COURSE you are, if you weren't you wouldn't even be posting that reply, plain and simple, and there is nothing wrong with that.

And it is understandable your peers were angry to not see your perform, but were they not compensated with good food and a culture rich program?
I mean i just don't understand you people, really i don't.

Anyway why don't you drop this issue, there are far worse problems happening in the world then your missed musical program.

NEXT!

"UNITED WE STAND & DIVIDED WE FALL"
hey tregor, my simpathy is with u but u gotta talk with organiser first and if unsatisfied, then tell us through sajha we give u good suggestion what to do next, don't put anything bad comment directly to this public place(like sajha), we are forced to think, was party really that bad???????? .....
Hey, kiwigal, what is this..."...... the oldie bahadur and bahurnis shake their asses on the center stage. The community here in Boston is full of vugalrity look at the chepos in skimpy outfits anyway its their life why even bother........" Can't you be little educated?? Please, don't write anything(like..bahadur..bahunis..) in the public place or should I call you in the same way?
Hey, Bidwan, what is this........"Sajha should change it's name to Bringing Together Tamu Communities~!! " Sajha is the place where I saw every ethic group putting their add. How about this "Sajha should change it's name to Bringing Together ......(your last name) Communities~!! "
90% agree with sundargurung (hope this is your real name) and the way you reply at sajha thread. Only thing I don't like is "LEAD.. FOLLOW.... OR GET OUT OF THE WAY" Just a remainder, every people are differnt and have different views..all people have right to express their disatisfaction and it is not necessary that they GET OUT OF THE WAY.
Finally, "UNITED WE STAND & DIVIDED WE FALL"

Kiwigal, what happened to your first posting?? Were you so very embarassed that you had to take it off the web?? Let me remind you:
You called our artists "bahadurs and baharunis" or something of that sort - you don't even know how much energy, time, dedication and commitment these artists have put forth to perform for us. And instead of appreciating their hardwork all you do it bicker....wah...wah...wah....
You called people who attended the party "psychopaths" and "people with ADD" - based on the way they dressed up. I say, more power to the girls who wore what they wore. If you have the body for it then flaunt it - whats the big deal?? Unless you are one of those who sits in the corner and wishes you were one of them - Sour Grapes!
You also complained that this party wasn't family oriented - what are you talking about?? Lots of families were present and Lhochhar party is the one of the parties where people with families love to go. You've got it all wrong girl!
You said you were VERY DISSAPOINTED with my comments - you can suit yourself, if that makes you feel any better!

One fugging word for you MORON, did you come for PRACTICE ? No ! DID YOU SHOW UP FOR DRESS REHERSAL ? NO ! HOW THE FUG ARE THE ORGANIZERS SUPPOSED TO BOOK YOUR LAMEASS ACT IF THEY DON"T EVEN KNOW IF YOU CAN ACTUALLY PERFORM ? SHOW ME THE MONEY MORON!!!
GOTO ANY FUGGIN VENUE , YOU HAVE TO GIVE THEM A DEMO CD OR TAPE BEFORE THEY CAN BOOK YOU. NO CONCERT VENUE, NIGHT CLUB, OR ORGANIZATION IS BLINDLY GONNA BOOK AN ACT.

I know how hard it is to organize such events. I had the opportunity to participate in Lhochhar '03 and believe me it did have it's share of problems, but the satisfaction of entertaining my fellow country men was great. People who have participated in any sort of event know this feeling.
So you were not informed that you act got cancelled? Aren't you partly responsible to find out what's going on yourself. I have faced a similar situation, it happened to my friend when we were in college. We had to cancel his song which we had not perfected even though we had practiced till the wee hours before the show. He was disappointed and furious that we did not inform him. But when we explained to him, he understood. I am not a professional artist, and there will always be flaws and disappointment. Try to think from the organizer's prespective, they do not want to showcase an act that is not well rehearsed. Would you be willing to sing knowing that there will be some imperfections and disappoint your firends and the audience? I guess not. I hppe you understand what I am trying to point out, and by now you have eased the pain caused by this issues. I wish you good luck for the next time you get a chance to perform, and may be I will get a chance to see your act.
FYI ppl! Boston Tamu Samaaj & GBNC are two different entities.....

Visitor27

I had made no concerns regarding the family orientedness of the party.........where the hell did this comefrom.........lol

My main issue was the kids participation. Also after looking at your second post I wouldn't be surprised if you one of those half naked sluts roaming around the party or if you are a guy then probably can't affoird to watch a strip show.

Also I haven't taken my post away you dumass.........

Need to respect the artist ? he he YEah if he showed up for practice. First of all the other band that actually played in the event actually practiced for more than a month for this event. They even went out of their way to accomodate this moron. BUT HE NEVER SHOWED UP, DID NOT EVEN HAVE THE COURTESY CALL THEM(they were waiting for his ROYAL PAIN IN THE ASS). AFTER ALL THIS THIS MORON HAS THE AUDACITY TO COME ACCUSE THE ORGANIZER OF BEING BIASED. If he so wanted to play then he should have showed up at those dress rehersal and practice to PUT MONEY WHERE HIS MOUTH IS. What the hell did he want ? A ROYAL RED CARPET WELCOME !!!

although i am a new person in this website, going through this thread was quite interesting.
i am empathetic towards tregor.as a performer myself, i know the time and effort it takes in putting up a piece of show.back in idaho,my frens and i we had been practicing a dance which was to be shown in the red indians party.but the program started late and so our show was cancelled.we were disappointed but they did give us each a camera as a compensation.not that we needed it,it made us feeel better.
i'd definitely want to see your performance tregor if i come to boston next year during losar.

".....n what sin did i commit in raising a complain without a slightest trace of denouncement???? what is that long preach for......... "

"we validate and acknowledge your comments/concerns but poeple should not get down to being outright rude and obnoxious. If you think, we on purpose turned you down, then please accept our apologizes but if you were there, you definately knew what the problem was. There was some technical difficulty and as a result of that, we had to short change our program. As simple as that."

now let the thread rest in peace

Ladies, ladies, be careful not to give yourselves a heart attack in this process - not worth it I guarantee you :) . I missed this one but I have been to Lochar parties in the past and I thought they were pretty well organized most of the time - great entertainment and really great food.

The perfomances sometimes tend to have heavy shades of traditional influences to them which often, but not always (before anyone tries to jump on me ), tends to attract a slightly older age group than lets say a pure dance and booze party might. Given the age distribution of Nepalese in Boston (as per my own inference and not any particular statistical source), I doubt this will ever change because it appears there are simply more people with a taste for rural/traditional Tamu culture than there are for more non-traditional forms of entertainment. And that, in my humble opinion, is the fault line lying beneath not just this discussion but other similar conversations I have heard from many people in Boston.

My own feeling on the subject is I go to Tamu Samaj for traditional entertainment and I look elsewhere for other forms - after all this city has no dearth of other types of entertainment, right? And its not everyday that you get to see traditional performances so why not make the most of it when you get the chance.

Enough said - Happy Lochar and a happy new year to you all. If anything I have said offends anyone, all I can say is my intent is not to offend but simply to state what is on my mind in the spirit of openess and transparency.

:)

kiwigal,
will you shut up pls? you are being out of your own issues that you came up with. you are the one who neither like doing anything or nor like seeing things happening. I feel sorry about you and your pathethic attitude towards the organization of Boston L Party. You need to appreciate their work and the time they spend in it to entertain Nepali people. If you are really concern about doing anything, you better take your lazzy ass out there and do some real work insead of just chattering here in sajha behind that little nick. Of course you have right to critisize their work, but there is way to do it. You must not forget the hard work and time required to organize this kind of show. I am neither from Boston nor any one of those organizers, but i can't stop responding your moronic complain about the party.I believe you are one of those who dont do anything besides complaining. you really have a problem sweety; you need to take care of that. About you as an "eye opener", YOU do need help to get your eyes opened.
