Vice-Chairman Giri in blacklist

KATHMANDU, June 11 - Vice-Chairman of the Council of Ministers Dr. Tulsi Giri is among the blacklisted willful defaulters of the state-owned Nepal Bank Limited, the Kantipur daily reported Saturday.
Giri?s name was blacklisted in the Credit Information Bureau list for failing to repay the loan he had taken from the bank.

Interestingly, Giri has been listed among those in which the Finance Ministry is preparing to send letters to all other ministries to boycott the blacklisted persons at public functions on Sunday.

According to reports, Giri had taken loans from Nepal Bank Limited 20 years ago but had never paid back. He had taken a loan of Rs.2 million to run Himalaya Plastic Private Limited on Feb 27, 1986, the company that has been blacklisted by Credit Information Bureau four years before. The bank sources said that the company has a total due of Rs.17.4 million.

Giri, whose CIB blacklist number is 1680 and is also a shareholder and the board chairman of the company till date had obtained loans with he himself as a guarantor, the daily reported.

The Kantipur daily said that Giri left the country within two months after receiving large chunk of loan from the bank

?The directors of the company had told me that they had already paid all the loans,? the daily reported Giri as saying.

Giri returned from long self-imposed exile abroad after 18 years after King Gyanendra picked him up for the post-Feb. 1 government. (dds)

Any buddu like myself can guess, Why? All big big corruptions had whose hands behind? So, why there will be investigation? Specially Gyaney, Dhirey were behind....know that.

Man, Nepal's politics only gets more interesting by the day. So what happens now? Will King Gyanendra fire Dr Giri? If he does so, will Dr Giri blow the whistle on the King? Looks like we may be in for some fireworks.

I am not surprised that you are trying to defend Giri, but did you even read that news before making a post in this forum? Here's a direct quote from the blog (and my memory serves me right, it was the exact quote from yesterday's Kathmandu Post (the news was written by Ameet Dhakal, I think):

"Dr Giri himself called the Bank on March 30 and told the bank officials that he didn?t know HImalaya Plastics and said that if they had any documents in his name, it should be a fake one."

Is that what you mean by "cenceding"? (Btw, last time I checked, the letter E and the letter O were on opposite sides of the keyboard; typing E instead of O is one hell of a typo there! Perhaps some of us here need to refresh our spellings before making fun of Baburam Bhattarai's PhD)

I think, the RCCC won't touch him. He needs 'Jana Adaalat' to get justice!
And Gyane is no better. Do you guys know how he sucks the country?

OK, here is a very simple way to oust the GIRI. He has now challenged the journalists. All now these journalists need to do is make the Bank release the blacklist of defaulters. If GIRI's name appears in that, then GIRI becomes Dulo ma CHHIRI.

KATHMANDU, June 12 - Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers Dr Tulsi Giri Sunday said that he was not aware of being blacklisted by Nepal Bank Limited, the NBL.

Giri added that the bank had not sent him any notice and that he had not thought of resigning from his post over the issue. "Let the bank contact me first, then only I will think about what to do," he said.

Talking to journalists on the sidelines of a programme in the capital today, Giri said, "I have already told the Kantipur daily that the bank has not given me any statement, I have no idea about being blacklisted."

Kantipur daily had published news yesterday saying Vice Chairman Giri was among those blacklisted the state-owned NBL for failing to repay a loan of Rs.2 million he had taken from the bank 20 years ago with he himself as a guarantor.

The government itself has made a policy to boycott the blacklisted wilful defaulters at public functions and not to keep them in the government offices. (snn)

I am aware of that fact sheets.... but hey public....don't you get it? It will go to Supreme Court... this is what the tradition we develped in Nepal.. every issue knocks the door of SC. we go and knock the door of SC asking if the Govt. dossolved is legal or illegal....

And what was NBL was doing in after Nov 2001. If they have already declared it blacklist? Ke Lata le Kera Heroko jasto ni? Had they released this fact sheet then, probably T Giri would not have chance to come to this govt... now unfortunately he is already in the power.... Deal with it.
