Microsoft spoiled me.

Need some help fixing Nepali fonts on Ubuntu (Fiesty). What do I have to do in order to read Kantipur or even Nepali characters in sajha.com? It shows the fonts but some parts are hard to read.

Is there anyway you can write romanized nepali using Ubuntu?

(Screenshot of the fked up Nepali characters as seen on my computer)

I am having the same problem, I use dapper drake though but I think this is the problem of firefox itself. I tried to install kantipurfont but it didn't help.
If someone had solved this problem in firefox that may be helpful for ubuntu.
I am not using windows anymore and there are lots of things I have to fix in ubuntu. I also have problem using WINE the application gets installed but cannot use them for some reason.
I think ithis is the price to pay for living freely. But I like it in many otherways.
Keep this ubuntu thread alive.

thanks for the replies.

propensity: I thinks its
System -> preference -> keyboard -> layout -> added nepal... now what? Nothing shakes it up.

bodmas: Yeah, Ubuntu rocks. Not a microsoft basher, but ubuntu is great for a change. I don't know if it is a firefox problem or something. I think I should try opera, but I don't have much time today to play around. Just trying to save some time googling.

Yup, lets keep this ubuntu thread alive, share the problems and fixes. Simple things could become irritating due to the ignorance.

Okay, Found the fix for this...

Fix is:

Edit the "environment" file that is located at /etc directory.
sudo emacs /etc/environment

(emacs, vi, gedit, editor of your choice)

and add MOZ_DISABLE_PANGO=0 at the end of the file.
Log off and relogin and it should work fine.
