Definitely, better than nothing or some Austrian or Indian university. But do you have an option? I mean where else do you have an offer from? I would say, Drexel is not Stanford or Columbia, Harvard or Syracuse, but ye why not? Do you have a good financial package?

One of my friend dropped out of the PHD program from that University. NO, it's not the Uni, it was the person.

Good luck either ways!

There was a guy who just finished his PhD in Biomedical engineering from Drexel. He came and gave a hiring talk at my university. And he was talking about his collaborative work with Environmental engineering department. So as we understood, its one of the "good department" at Drexel. But we ended up not hiring him, because he lacked "theoritical grasp" of mechanism design. He was a great hands on guy. Now, does that says anything about what you are looking into. Just thought of helping you out, man!!

Drexel is a pretty mediocre school for EE. I have heard that it does not even require GRE for admit. Not too sure about Environmental Engineering though.

Good luck

Having said that, I would say you need to look at the specific area and the lab where you want to work. Not all great scientists and researchers go to MIT and Stanford, it's the work that you do with your advisor in the lab that speaks the volume of your skill.

So, my suggestion to you is to go check the lab and the people you want to work with. If there is a match, you should go for it.

All the best.

Sure,
Mr. Lonely is absolutely correct! If you are already in US, you must have been invited to PhD open houses. Make sure you go to all the schools you applied to, before you hear from them, or at least to the ones you got accepted into afterwards. Most of them will pay you for your visit and stay during the open house. You will get to meet your adviser, lab co-workers.. get to hear from them what direction they heading towards and last but not the least, what you want to do is really what they are interested in making you do? It makes big difference.
A small instance: I applied for Applied Mathematics department at Stanford University, and they instead got me into then SCCM:Computational mathematics department. I was all excited and thought I will definitely go there, since I had clearly mentioned my instead. I only went there on open house to find out, they were just interested in ODE analysis, a project they had going on with US petroleum. So please make sure you see them before you recognize them. Good luck.
