Hello friends, I am trying to obtain a tourist visa for Canada on behalf of my parents who are currently in the US. I am gathering all the requirements as required by this document : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5876E.pdf So i have most of the documents ready. However, I hit a snag with this particular requirement: If you are in the United States with B1 or B2 status, please also submit proof of ties to your country of usual residence. This should include (but is not limited to):  Proof of intention to return to that country (example: airline tickets, travel itineraries) Is there any way to get airlines to send me a travel itinerary or flight reservation without me having to pay for the ticket itself. I don't want to purchase the tickets as there is always a slim chance that the visa application might be rejected. Also, I could by refundable tickets but they are really expensive and even if i cancel it after getting the visa most of the airlines, it turns out, only reimburse the amount in the form of "travel banks".

Has anyone faced a similar situation? I would appreciate any help!

Thanks

So if ur parents are in B1/B2 visa, i guess you should have return ticket for them to Nepal. I believe that's what they are asking.

Go to a travel agent(there are lots of them in Chinatown), book a ticket & get the itinerary printed. Most of them will hold the booking for about a week if not more for no cost.

@ny2 they don't have a return ticket to nepal from the US, yet, if that is what you mean. The Canadian embassy/consulate would require a return ticket from Canada to Nepal.

@Gundrukay Chinatown in which city?

You need a letter from someone in Canada (Resident or Citizen) saying they are inviting your parents to visit Canada. That should do it.

@Gundrukay thanks for the info. i'll give it try.

@Jonny, are you speaking from personal experience? if so can you elaborate?

if you read the documentation (link i posted in original post) it clearly says

"Failure to submit all required documentation may result in the refusal of your application or
processing delays."

and it lists that "Proof of intention to return to that country" needs to be established via "airline tickets, travel itineraries".
