IT guru haru advice chayo
IT guru haru,
I have an undergraduate degree in Accounting and Minor in Finance. 4 - 5 month kam khoje kam payena ani 1 year OPT ko samaya kasari sidyo thaha nai vayena. So i decided to switch carrer towards IT. I am currently doing Master in system engineering(first semester). My school has a several Graduare program in IT. Master in Software engineering , Databse Techologies, Technology Management(ERP) and system engineering, Information Assurance are the program offered at school. I guess my question is, How is the job market graduating on system engineering ? Or which program you people would recommend in terms of job market ? I am extremely novice to IT field. Any advices are greatly appreciated
Im also a prospective major and what I have heard is database management is much prominent than other field..BTW which school you are in now ?

Thats what i heard as well (database mgmt). I see ton of IT talks here at sajha and surprised no one has responded except you. Thanks for atleast sharing. Sapphire i go to Regis University here in Denver. What about you ?
I am not an expert but as of my best knowledge, if you can focuss on DB mgmt i am sure you can make atleast 80K a year.I have seen many ppl on this field even the cheaper company (Foxconn) pays 65K for the beginners for DB mgmt field. But again i am not an expert on this.It field filed has a variety of section you already know that and nepal ma DOC huna lai science padnai parne , Engr huna lai maths linai parne jasto ni haina, be focussed in any one IT field but be a pro.Good luck buddy.
Advice on Prospective fields/major:
- Software Engineering: Choose a software longaguage preferabbly - OOP language.
- Data Mining
- Computer Networks : You may want to gear up for CCNA, CCNP etc.
- Learn Script: tcl/tk, Python (preferably Python) etc.
- etc
MOre important: Do your project on your own. Even if you master 10% of your own project, thats good enough. You can have a minor project and continue doing it untill you convert it as major project. It will definitely help once you graduate or search job in your next OPT/CPT.
Get online certification once you progress on your next semester w.r.t your project/career goal.
Always plan with your Academic Adviser and consult him about your career goals, aim, certification etc.
~ Don't simply comlaint if you dont hear from anyone in sajha.
GoodLuck

While learning DBMS , try learning on Unix also. I might be helpful if you wanna switch for admin. But I don't know much about it.
