No, if you are international, then as far as I know, you can't work in 1099 at all. Its illegal.
Tax file na gare thah ta hudaina but remember your employer will file his taxes and will have your ssn and info submitted for the work done and expenses related to it.
So, if IRS is to flag you for any reason, then you will have some nice explaining to do and fine to pay along with taxes.
