Quote taken from another thread dealing with animal cruelty simply to highlight the fact
that this Rethink dude is nuts and does not know what he is talking about.
"On one hand we 'farm' animals to slaughter them mercilessly for meat and fur, and on another
hand we have deep rooted sense of morality from our own experience and discovery to not do
something upon others, including animals, that you don't want done onto yourself."
Notice how conveniently he uses the golden rule from religion to prove his point?. Never mind
that he uses this point wrongly which i will elaborate later.
Christianity-------> Do unto others as you want others to do unto you.
Hinduism...........> One should never do that to another which one regards as injurious to one’s
own self.
Buddhism...........> Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful.
The issue of golden rule is applicable to humans only. For plants and animals, we do not use the
golden rule, rather we use compassion, mercy, care and love. The issue about animal cruelty
is not about being vegetarian, but finding a humane way to kill the animals. So it is not like,
if one were an apple would you like to be plucked from the tree?. Or imagine if you were the goat,
would u like to be killed for the meat?. So Rethink by using the golden rule is in fact saying,
it is ok to kill him, just use humane ways!. See the logic of this ?. Poor Rethink bro. But it
is not too late, still time to learn.
This is what happens when a layman tries to deal with rocket science. And exactly why i say he
lacks critical thinking.
