You don't need to bench/deadlift 500 lbs or go to the gym to get fit. I don't know why idiots think going to gym is the only way of remaining fit. Eat right. Avoid white rice, white sugar, sugary stuffs. Take good, complex carbs and include lean protein in your meals. Drink plenty of water. Eat plenty of veggies and fruits and you're good to go. 

When you put on weight, belly, for men and hips for women is where your body stores fat at. When you work out, there's no spot reduction so belly fat will be the last to go, too.
