lemme tell you something, PC is becoming integral part of our day to day life.  It's not going out anytime soon.
If you thought HP stopped the laptop business model, well then the executive chairman who made that decision is already fired and guess what?, HP is back and yeah it sells PC. 
40 years ago we had mainframes, 40 years later it's still with us sitting on our desktop and at least 20 more years, it's not going anywhere.
Tablets are sidekicks to PC we have today. It's like on-the-go stuff to check some mails,social networks and games other than that it's not as perfect as PC. A recent survey showed aproximately more than 70% ppl use tablet for gaming and for less productive works.
And, ultrabooks are new kids on the block not sure if it's gonna stay or go.
These so called ultrabooks are damn expensive at the moment and the only good thing about them is low power consumption , hence more battery power. Well, that's what netbooks said but look at it, what happened, netbooks are flawed and it flopped.

I would still wait for a year before I even think of trying ultrabooks. I already have a rock solid system build, don't need to look around for couple of more years :D
