IMO,
- Better to ask your husband and/or special friends in US. Also, one is not allowed to work in dependent visa.
- US is land of opportunites, only if you have confidence over yourself and have strong communication skill. At present it is tough but possible with deliberate effort.
- Status change becomes easier only if your husband has green card. I think you have sound knowledge so better go for student visa if possible.
