Pire: Don't get me wrong either. My knowledge of history of Nepal is limited by what I studied in grade school and Nepal Parichaya. I know that's not much.
I heard about the attrocities of Prithvi Narayan after he conquered Kirtipur long time ago as told by my then 80+ years old grandfather, which was passed on by his forefathers. But from the time I was able to think for myself, I did not believe in it as there was no historical logs/evidence of what actually transpired back then - absolutely nothing in the Nepali history books to say the least. Recently when I came across the writings of this missionary in the internet, I was naturally shocked as I refused to believe this for all my life. It is not easy to comprehend how the account could be so similar as told by my illiterate grandfather and this missionary...
I am not saying these missionaries do not have their own agendas, but I believe in keeping an open mind to everything.
PS: I don't come from Kirtipur and do not hold personal grudges against the late King.
