How do u know the Maoists started it? Do u even know that the police started treating the people of Rolpa and Rukum like shit before the People's War started? Yes, those people (most of them probably Maoist symnpathisers) were against the parliamentary system based on monarchy, but they didn't deserve to be killed, raped, and tortured just for supporting the Maoist ideology. I am talking about way before the People's War started. Do u think the people would have supported Maoists had it not been the brutal atrocities of the police then? It would never have been possible for Prachanda and Maoists to agitate the whole country without the support of poor and backward people of Rolpa, Rukum, Jajarkot etc. I know that the Maoists resorted to killing torturing, and extortion during the insurgency in retaliation to the brutality from the army and police, but Maoists have not raped any women. On the contrary, army and police personnel raped so many Maoist supporters ( not guerillas). How the hell is that forgivable? Guys, u had to be the victim of state-sponsored terror to actuallly fathom the pain of it. It is true that force is never the first solution to any problem, but in situations like this, it is the only solution. I do agree with u guys on the fact that the YCL and its activitists have sometimes taken law into their own hands. They should immediately stop that and let the law take its course. Howeve, most of the media have been blowing things out of proportion to defame the Maoists and topple their government, which I think is nothing surprising in politics. It was ridiculous how the killing of that female journalist in Terai was blamed on Maoists by some media despite the lack of any proof. So it is time that we got our facts right.
