Forget about Nepal, even rich countries have deals with the US to get some kind of special agreements to let in their citizens to work in USA. The way I see it: one of the point of TPS was to help Nepal so that Nepalese in USA can send some remittance back to Nepal which will help in Nepal’s recovery. From personal level, I can say that my ancestral home in Nepal was damaged and has not been fit to live in, and so my parents have been living in rental since last 5 years. TPS has been really helpful to me to hold steady job in USA and help out my parents. There is no shame in utilizing TPS; it is a gift from America to Nepal and its foreign policy tool. I know several people from rich Europeans countries who are fighting tooth and nails using some visa status not so different from TPS to stay in this country. Adhikaar is fighting like hell to renew TPS and give us green card pathway. From my pov, the end justifies the means. I don’t care about the minor nitty gritty of the tactic they are using as long it helps me and my Nepali friends. And let’s face it, most immigrants who became naturalized used the immigration law to their advantage and did some trickery here and there. Melania Trump, Ilhan Omar etc come to find. There is no shame in admitting it folks. I love my country Nepal and being a Nepali, but I love USA and also living in the USA and I will fight toooth and nails to keep working and living here until I exhaust every option and TPS is my best chance. Haters and all the naysayers can say whatever they want but it is what it is.
