Confusion

“Thou shall never cry,
Coz you are not a wimp”
“Thou shall conquer the pain of emotions
Coz you are a man”
The hounding lines were pre-made and pre-written
As far as I remember
The warning voices of caution keep thumping my eardrums
Ever since I gained my senses

Time and again, I am asked to wear a façade
The façade that everyone likes to see
You know, the one that everyone ‘likes’ to expect
But,
At times, deluge of emotions well up my eyes as well,
At times, they tend to break the dam of ‘don’ts’ in my consciousness

I wish I could say I do not care,
And give a damn to what the whole world thinks of me
Nagged by all directions, I am made to continue my journey
In the make believe world of tandem paradoxes,

I hear they say “it is manly to show your tears in public”, not anybody can do it
I hear again, “it is macho to hide your tears.”
Really?
Baffled, I ask myself, whom to listen and whom to follow?
