Traveling through Hong Kong with Nepali passport

This is an older advisory, and we're reposting it as its a common problem experienced by many Nepali travelers.

With a Nepali passport (this includes green card holders) and US/Canada/Australia-based visa, transit is permitted through Hong Kong, provided both connecting segments at Hong Kong are with Cathay or Dragon.

You will need a transit visa if any segments originating from Hong Kong is not in Cathay (e.g. The trip between Kathmandu and Hong Kong is Cathay, and between Hong Kong is on United or American.

When purchasing a ticket online, there are excellent flights which fly directly into Hong Kong on American or United, and connect to Kathmandu with Cathay/Dragon. By rule, boarding will be denied. Please be very careful.

This rule is applicable for Nepali passport holders.
