The Management Information Systems (MIS) concentration emphasizes management, design, development, and operation of information systems. So I think its a management degree for IT graduates. MIS graduates will be exposed to a wide variety  employment opportunities like Software Engineers, Programmers, Business/System Analysts, System designers, Database Managers, IT managers, etc.

Seriously talking.. Degree won't give you job from my experience.. Degree is the thing that you hang it in the wall.. the thing that will get you a job is Experience and Reference..

From my point of view.. though i am also MIS major.. and i am Enjoying learning it.. but i won't find a job until i have good reference..

you are in same situation as I was 3 years back. I also have computer engineering + MBA. Focus job search on ERP systems (such as SAP) which needs people with both computer as well as business skills. But also within ERP there are sub areas which you would like to choose based on whether you want to focus on technical, functional or techno functional. I am currently working as SAP BPC which is pretty much techo-functional. hope this helps.

Sathiho,

I am considering applying for a Docotral in MIS. I have a bachelor's degree in Mathematics & Comp Information Systems with a 3.8 GPA. I have been working as a financial analyst for about 2 years since I reaally became interested in finance towards my senior year in college but want to go back to technology. Any advice on schools that I should be looking into? also is financial aid usually offered for doctoral programs in MIS?

I have been researching and applying few Universities for MIS. I would like to just take a class per semester and work full time. It would be very helpful if you guys also mention the name of the university you are currently enrolled or have knowledge about.

My background is in Engineering & working as software developer for past 3/4 years.
