Hi All,

I am planning a trip to Kathmandu some time around March.

Can any one help me with reliable tavel agents who offer affodable prices? I want to avoid travelling via India due to the long transit!! Any other routes that are noteworthy?

I have been in touch with Third eye, Peaceland and Zen .

I was going to opt for Zen but then i have read quite a few bad reviews about them and i am a little hesitant!!

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Many Thanks in advance.

Go via New Delhi. New Delhi - Ktm should be reasonably cheap, plus you can spend a day or two down there.

For tickets, go to makemytrip.com. It is ridiculously cheap. I believe they even have non-stop, 14 hour long flights from NYC.

Good luck.

Thank you Quagmire...but isn't the transit like ridiculously long hours? And i don't want to head out the airport lest i have Visa issues and all..but i shall definitely check out the link you provided.

Promyse, I suppose you being a female are rightly cautious about heading out of the airport, especially in India. I believe you will be able to buy tickets to Kathmandu from inside the airport right away (else, you could always have your parents in Nepal buy you tickets from New Delhi-India after you finalized your tickets to New Delhi. ) Trust me, it will be a lot Cheaper.

Good luck.

Thank you for your suggestions, Quagmire and Biraj. Appreciate it. Got my tkts for 18th March.

A dumb question but here goes- I 'll be getting my Visa at the airport in KTM. Now if i need to go to Delhi for a short trip - do i have to apply at the Indian embassy or do i get it at the Delhi airport?? Any suggestions?

You don't need a visa if you are not planning to go outside, ie wait at the transit.  My little son has a US passport and they didn't let him out the airport but were okay to wait @ the transit lounge.  One important thing to remember is that unlike Nepal, India does not issue visa at airport.

Thank you Jonny.

I'll be going via UK-Bahrain-KTM. And as such will be getting my passport stamped at the Kathmandu airport. But i was planning a trip to Delhi once i reach ktm and was wondering if they had a visa issue office at the airport - seems they don't.
