Any devotees out there?

Trance music to me is the epitome of an open mind with the sophistication of vibrancy and energy. I have been listening to it for over 15+ years now - relax I am in my 30's - and it just keeps getting better. Trance also tends to transcend a form of lifestyle, and not necessarily having to spend weekends in Ibiza. There is absolutely nothing like turning up the volume and feeling the moment - the moment of positive melodic vibes and emotions. It has all the elements that make music desirable, and the ability to turn any genre into trance through remixes and synthesizers. I listen to it every opportunity I get. If you have not heard of trance before please be impartial in the way you think of non traditional music - give it a bit of sprititual twist, the places you may hang out for friday night drinks or when you are working out and need the extra encouragement - the official definition is ' temporal altered state of consciousness'.

It is quite rare to find ppl from Nepal listening to it - most probably due to the fact that they never had an opportunity to get to know what trance music really is. Another reason could be that it is not mainstream lyricial music such as pop, rock and R&B. I understand from friends though that KTM has a couple of awesome trance night clubs. Oh and if you grew up in the US, Europe or Australia - I am almost positive you have come across it. I would love to hear from you if you are a fan. Below is a few random samples you might enjoy (ensure the volume is slightly higher, or use noise reduction ear plugs).

-JB

syd_acid, I couldn't agree with you more.

At this point in my life, I look at the various genres of music I've phased through and it's a fairly good number. It wasn't until you mentioned it that I realized that music has been with me through these phases  of my life and every time I go back to a genre, it brings back old memories. I remember listening to mostly pop music as a teenager, moved on to pop and alternative rock as I grew older.

Sick of the same artists and their commercialized lyrics,  started exploring independent artists hoping to find more meaningful diction and compositions.

Moved on to classical compositions by Chopin, Beethoven and Broadway stuff like Rent etc.

  Not that I hadn't listened to trance before, but it wasn't until I was at a trance/house/D&B lounge that I really wanted to dig deeper into the genre.

 About 80% of my typical day is partially or completely filled with music, don't know what I would do without it. One doesn't have to know how to compose music to appreciate it, I don't want to learn how to compose music but I def want to explore the realms of it.

To add to your opinion about people who are content with being musically consistent, I think it's just the difference in the level of appreciation they have for music in general. I can't imagine listening to the same genre of music, even if it were to be the best thing on earth since sliced bread.

black_panther, welcome aboard and thank you for all the terrific uploads. Engima is, indeed, a classic. You seem like you have been around - when you listen to trance what usually goes through your mind?

Just as a courtesy to others though - can I please ask that you type in normal letter fonts (so that others can enjoy and focus more on your uploads as opposed to the large letters). And I am sure you know that we both like quality as opposed to quantity, right? Oh and if the visuals are less provocative the better - we long for the music not the skin :-)

jadedkt - appreciate your down-to-earth honest commentary. Well said. Variety always wins.

A couple of classics below - the first one is 'Go' from Moby and the second, 'I don't know' from Erika:

Every time I think of you I feel shot right through with a bolt of blue. It's no problem of mine, but it's a problem I find living a life that I can't leave behind. But there's no sense in telling me the wisdom of the fool won't set you free. But that's the way that it goes and it's what nobody knows, and every day my confusion grows.

Every time I see you falling I get down on my knees and pray. I'm waiting for that final moment - you say the words that I can't say.

I feel fine and I feel good. I'm feeling like I never should. Whenever I get this way I just don't know what to say - why can't we be ourselves like we were yesterday. I'm not sure what this could mean - I don't think you're what you seem. I do admit to myself that if I hurt someone else then I'll never see just what we're meant to be.

Has this thread been buried into the depths of the server, left hidden from our sajha users of the magic of ones and zeroes and music.

Oh well, electronica has had a very special place in my heart this year as I keep on exploring the genre, and every now and then I come back to this thread because it's one of the best playlists.

I thought I would share a few songs.

First, rods and cones by the blue man group.
Wouldn't say it's trance but it definitely has the elements of loopy tunes that pull you in and make you close your eyes and move with the beat. The bpm is right round the corner.

Another one is a beautiful piece from doing random youtube progressive trance searches :)

This one is for the trio who saved the world from J Lo and pitbull. :P

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXpdmKELE1k&ob=av2e

The last one for the cool commercial and the glitch mob for stopping the world a few hundred times.

 FF - without a doubt, you are having the *time* of your life. Thanks for posting such an uplifting music!

There are times when I am terribly overworked - 14 hour days at the office, traffic, gf yapping, unwanted phonecalls - so what do I do? I get out of my ever-so-boring three piece into nothing but a boxer and a nice cold beverage (it's hot in Melbourne at the moment you know). And pull out my Seinheisers over my ears, close my eyes and literally drift away for 15 minutes listening to such vibrant reincarnating melodies as these:

The remix of "The Funeral" by Band of Horses

Unfinished Symphony by Hybrid

Enjoy!

I am sure all you guys are probably aware of Infected Mushroom, right???? I didnt see a single mention about this group in this thread...i am not a devoud trance guy, i am more of a rock/metal guy, hwoever, i am hooked on infected mushroom...some of the musical compositions and arrangements are nothing short of genius...also, they are very good at combining different genres of music...if you guys havent checked them out, you just absolutely have to.....listen to vicious delicious, heavyweight, elation station, deeply disturbed, project 100, i'm the supervisor, and all the rest of their songs...

@JB:
Welcome back! I love the mix of the funeral. *lifts a bottle of beer* here's to another year and to headphones that open up your audio spectrum. Cheers!

@swaroop,
I saw infected mushroom live last year and they were pretty amazing. They are more of the psy-trance group than regular trance like tiesto, Armin van bureen, above and beyond, paul oakenfold etc.

@inteligentguy:
While i agree avicii, daft punk and ratatat are very good, musically they are more house than trance. Avicii is actually electro-house. Most people will say trance, house and techno are all the same but once you start listening to the electronic genre you will hear nuances. House mostly has organic drums and repetitive beats while trance is more intricate, with synths and various muscial melodies. Also, in trance there's intro, build-up and drop and the music feels more spacey, that's the only way i can put it.

Here's one by Gareth Emery:
