The following is the content of the email that I wrote to Warner Bros. If I get a contact no. I will contact them. Will let ya'all know.

"This is in regard to the new flick called "Chandani Chowk to China' where the filmmakes made a huge mistake. Buddha is a Nepali not an Indian. He did get his enlightenment in the jungles of India but by origin and ethinicity, he is a full blooded Nepali. Whom should we address this mistake to?????"

If you are a true nepali, then join the band wagon. You can find the email link in their website.

A TRUE NEPALI BY HEART AND ORIGIN - ARE YOU????

like gyanguru said, we need some solid evidence. UNESCO could be a effective source. i will check around while i wait for their response.

I am quite surprized to know about these nepali dude ( i dont wanna mention name) who r prodly saying that Buddha was born in India or he is Inidan. I am refering to the old post in this thread.

I would like to wish them a luck to those nepalese to wear dhoti and worship Inidan people.

And about Buddha's birthplace, I think it is very clear that he was born in Lumbini which is part of Nepal. I feel so sorry for my self and Nepalese people that we r arguing with each other about Buddha's birth place. Were we not supposed to keep our argument to Inidan people or government. But instead we r arguing with each other about the Buddha's birthplace. Those so called nepali guys needs to understand that it has been scientifically, archelogacially, historially proved that he was born in Lumbini.

By the way, let me make u all clear that there was no country named India and Nepal when Buddha was born. Basically he was born when both of these country didnt existed. Because of war, politics, British colonization of India, 1814  Nepal- East India war, war between differnt countries from Hindustan region 1000-1500 years ago and many other factors were involved which drew a new border line between new country Inida and Nepal. Fortunately, Lumbini where Buddha was born came under Nepalese land.

I think I made my case clear to those freaking Nepali who r arguing with us by telling Buddha was Born in India. Shame on u guys.... Why dont u just tell Nepal is a part of India and we r Indians so that u dont have to argue with us abt Buddha's birrthplace.

Peace.............................

Following are the sites both Nepali
and foreign which sites evidence that Buddha was born in Nepal

Sites:

http://www.ebudhaindia.com/holy_sites/birth_place.htm

http://www.buddhanet.net/e-learning/buddhistworld/lumbini.htm

http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/666

Indians are not sure in which part of India they
should claim as birth place of Buddha, some even say that he was born in Bhubaneswar,
southern India for example visit the site

http://www.toshalisands.com/buddha/index.html

Please read what was published in The Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland

February, 1897. pp. 429-433 in site

http://ccbs.ntu.edu.tw/FULLTEXT/JR-ENG/buh.htm

The site  http://www.lumkap.org.uk/Lumbini%20On%20Trial.htm, Challenges the Buddha birth place in Nepal. But its challenges mainly based on the distances

between different places but then the questions arises

1)      Is the conversion factor unit of distance to mile is correct. What if the conversion is not correct

2)      The distance mentioned is air to air distance or distance by foot road, and if it is foot road how the present day researched track the same road as traveled by those Chinese visitors.

3)      Finding similar stupas ponds temple doesn’t prove the birthplace unless otherwise proven scientifically.

4)
Even the similar name doesn’t prove, you need to have scientific evidence. For example “Authya” is the capitol of Thailand and lots of Thai kings bear the name “rama” it doesn’t prove that Ram’s       “Audhya” was in Thailand.

5)
Creation of duplicate of famous places/structures can be seen from time to time in human history like coliseums and Pyramids, so the ppl at that time after the kapilvastu area was destroyed by the war just before the death of Buddha may have created similar structures just to remind the old glory of their town I don’t have evidence. This I said because if the ppl believed the site they claim is the original one then they should conduct the scientific analysis of the artifacts. You can’t just talk the talk and say it is the proof.

6)
At present in Dhaka there is live size duplication of “Taj Mahal” if something happened to this sub continent and get ruined. What if an archeologist after 2000 yrs excavating the “Taj Mahal” in Dhaka is the original one and that found during the excavation of Agra is not. This is the perfect example of how dangerous is considering similar thing as evidence. In that case only the scientific analysis can prove it.

7)
If you carefully read the article then you will realize and you can apply the same level doubt on his points as he is applying about the Lumbini. What we have about the Lumbini? Proof from

UNESCO. If they are so sure about their research why don’t they ask UNESCO to
examine their evidence and challenge our claim? That can be very intellectual
things to do. Or why doesn’t Govt. of India do that? They know they are just
talking the talk just for the sake of research.

Indians and Japanese also excavated the site. Japanese will never agree to
fund if they haven’t found any evidence site: http://www.snowlionpub.com/pages/appeals10.html

gyanguru

1.The evidence regarding UNESCO excavation, there were lots of news published in "Gorkhapatra " and "Rising Nepal", from 1999 to 2004.  I goggled but I found only some news regarding the rebuilding of excavated site in 2005. May be those papers were not online in that time. But anyway the site address posted by Comcast is good evidence.2.

2.Regarding my opinion about mentality of most of the Indian bureaucrats is my personal experience I don’t think these things can be recorded as evidence.

3. Regarding the lack of dollar in India there were lots of report (published later in late 90s) how Indian economy was suffering from this problem at that time, I forgot
the paper but you can get impression by reading http://books.google.com/books?id=SUC_viYXYmIC&pg=PA117&lpg=PA117&dq=dollar+reserve+in+india+during+1960&source=web&ots=xBNng2JBWk&sig=RjHU9lBY_ADBb7jk8HDfp9XxZcE&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=7&ct=result#PPA119,M1

Darlagdo manche,

You protest to Warner bros is good but in this type of situation one should ask the question like “ On what basis you portrayed/indicated/mentioned India as birth place of Buddha as far as my understanding Lord Buddha was born in Nepal” so that the burden of proof is on their shoulder not yours

good to know there are nepalese who feels strongly like me. that means our blood still runs thick except for few stupids.

this is a matter of our integrity, identity and our very existence. dhotis are encoraching our borders every day and now they are sending a wrong info about Buddha to the world as this movie will be watched worldwide. hamro netaharule kehi garcha bhanne sochai narakhe pani huncha. ramro sanga speech deliver garna ta auandaina mulaharu.

a responsible company like Warner should at least do some research before making a film on third country or any culture. this country has a history of mere 221 yrs while ours go back thousands of years. we should be proud of it.

will keep u posted.

Who gives a damn, whether Buddha was born in Nepal or not, Prasant Tamang is a Nepalese or not, Udit Narayan Jha is Nepali or not……………

We Nepalese get so proud of Mt. Everest is being in Nepal, Buddha was born in Nepal, Tenzing Sherpa was Nepalese, Prasant Tamang is Nepalese……….. bla…bla…bla…. Did we build Mt. Everest? Did we make Buddha to born in Nepal? These things just happened and we want to take credit of it.

Have we done anything that makes us proud? We can’t even produce a good leader, we can’t make a bicycle, we can’t make a needle, we can’t utilize our potential 80,000 MW electricity, we can’t stop ‘Bandhs’, we can’t clean garbage from the streets, can’t stop lootings and kidnappings.

What r we proud of?

A few years ago, Hollywood released a movie titled "Entrapment" starring Sean Connery & Catherine Zeta Jones. There were scenes showing the Petronas Twin Towers (currently holding the tallest towers title). This building you can say is the pride of Malaysia. However, there were many scenes that showed a shoddy village sitting right behind its tall shadows. Now, for your information, in reality there aint no shoddy village behind the Towers nor anyway close to it. The whole world watched the movie and saw a different version of the country's pride.

Obviously, all Malaysians got mega upset and the then Prime Minister Dr.Mahathir took up this matter with the movie Producers.

Check this out for the whole story.  http://profile.nus.edu.sg/fass/geotgb/Paper.pdf

Likewise, since the birthplace of Buddha is of national interest in Nepal, perhaps Prachanda should stand up for the rights of his beloved countrymen  and clear facts from fiction. Is he prepared to do that?

we can understand ur frustration. we all are suffering and we all have the feeling.

everything was different yesterday( i am not say everything is good today. infact the situation is getting wrost than ever with terrorist lead government) . but don't you think we should protect what we have? if we are able to make the bicycle or niddle someday, is that good enough for our identity?

lets work together to condemn these sort of activities from F...ing Indian government and Indian people.

LORD BUDDHA HAS PUNISHED

Our blood boils because of non-issues like birth place of lord Buddha but we do not care about hundreds of real issues that are hurting us. We do not have any shame about not having electricity for 18 hours, not having water, no one picking up garbage for weeks, and so many people dying in poverty and lawlessness. Did anyone write any letters or do anything about these more pressing issues? How shallow has our nationalism become?

We are happy as long as foreigners say Mt. Everest is in Nepal and Buddha was born in Nepal eventhough we live in a shit hole called Nepal. I would rather be proud to be a native of a country with 24 hour electricity, development, education, ethnic hamony, respect for each other and so on rather than birthplace of Buddha or home of Mt. Everest. Here is a piece of news about Nepal begging a foreign country to build hydro-electricity plant that makes me more ashamed than this Buddha news. Foreigners have built so many hydropower plants - Kulekhani I, II, Marsyandi, Mid-Marsyangdi, and we have not learnt anything. Does this news make you proud of birthplace of Buddha? How can we be a real independent country when we rely so much on foreign aid?

Japan to build 127 MW Upper Seti

THIRA L BHUSAL

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: The government of Japan has principally agreed to build the 127 MW (megawatts) Upper Seti hydro project situated in Tanahun district. “Representatives of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Nepal have principally agreed to build the project,” Sriranjan Lacoul, director general of the Department of Electricity Development, Ministry of Water Resources, told myrepublica.com.

However, it will be officially announced in March, when the government of Japan unveils its annual budget, he said. “For financial arrangement we have to wait till March,” Lacoul added.

The government of Japan was also involved in preparing the detail feasibility study of the project. Currently, the Nepal Electricity Authority holds the project’s survey license. This project will be built in storage-type model.

All the hydro projects in Nepal, except the Kulekhani, are run-of-the-river projects. Therefore, Nepal has been facing load-shedding crisis every year in the dry season. Run-of-the-river projects generate less power during dry seasons owing to receding water levels in the rivers. In such development projects, the government of Japan provides financial support as loan to the government of Nepal ,and later that is converted into donation amount.

“Most probably the same provision will be applied in this project as well,” a senior official from the ministry said.

made that call but went to the voice mail instead. left a message though. not gonna make any difference but tried at least and posted comments on CC2C blog.

Pats,

hydropower and historical monuments are two different things. everest and lumbini are landmarks of nepal and if india claims it by hook or by crook, ur offsprings will spit on ur grave. mark my words.

now, why proposals fail to initiate hydropower - blame our corrupted govt. foreign companies invest immense effort and costs but nepal govt won't let it through. here individual greed exceeds needs of a country. so go figure.
