I just asked the birth dates of friends of my circle and came to know that they even have two different birth dates ; one of passport and one real bith day ( in cheena). I even feel hesitate sometime because since my real birthday is different than my passport; it feels akward when some americans ask me my birthday......its funny but I guess a lot of u have two birth dates...wats ur thought...

Welcome to reality....Where have you been?
FYI, most Nepali not only
have 2 birthdays, many of my generations had multiple birthday in
multiple copy of passport. In fact some could NOT even remember the
names they have put in different passports, forget about the DOB.
Anything
is possible in Nepal. Next time you feel akward with your American
friends, tell them we practice the real for of democracy, unlike theirs
where there is too many rules, we have none.

Few reasons why  surnames, birth dates
are non-consistent even in my family:

Child birth registration is/was not compulsory

Parents even did not remember the exact birth dates of
our large family, when the district authority appeared randomly for record
(I remember 2032-2034 BS, my mother was giving approximate birthdates
of our seven brothers and two sisters in my village)

In our family we have three types of surnames (Thar, Gotra and common like Sharma) and few not real birth dates, sometimes it's a matter of headache to get consistency in certificates, old birth records,
district citizenship card and thus passport.

I think it's a hidden mystery for most of the families in Nepal ?!

Now that the calendar is being shifted by a month, the birthdays get even more muddled up. the calendar is really shifting though right?
