As far as I know if you don't go outside of the airport, you don't need a visa. Their hotels are within the airports. Also, don't forget to ask for food coupons at the Etihad Customer Service counter. They offer 1 free lunch and 1 free dinner with the food coupon if you have longer transit hours. And the food court inside the airport serves very good food. I loved it.

Thank you for your response . I did call the eithad customer service and they were not help at all. Only the statement they use is "we are not allowed to give any information regarding visa" Only the thing that worry me is someone told me that although I am not leaving airport if I didn't get transit visa then they might not let to board the connecting flight. N its for my parents ,I Dnt want them to face any problem coj it will be total hazard for them .

I had 9 hours of transit at Abu Dhabi las time. I just chilled inside the Airport! No transit visa required if you stay within the Airports for 24 hours. One important thing to mention since you said your parents are coming to USA via Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi Airport has pre-clearance system by the department of homeland security. That means the lines are too long at the clearance. I almost missed my plane while coming back to USA last time. Tell your parents to stay on line at-least 3 hours before the flight. Passengers travelling to all US destinations are in the same line so the line is kinda long. Manage the time properly at the airport.

Thank you again...I put them as wheelchair passenger . However I will tell them to be in line .I hope the people there will direct them on which line to be in. Also do u mind to tell when was the last time that u travelled.only the reason I m asking is if they have changed their policy recently.

It was I guess 3 years ago. You can call your travel agent to make sure about the transit visa but I am pretty much sure you don't need one. No, you don't have to collect baggage at the pre-clearance. At TIA Nepal, they will ask you about the baggage and you can tell them you will collect the baggage at the final destination.
