There are few posts in Sajha where people shared their ideas about agriculture, farming jobs, was just wondering what are some other avenues for someone technologically savvy. If you have specific answer, it will be helpful.

I think construction.. people will always need someone to build their houses/shops/buildings. Nepal lacks a good construction company, which has dependable workers (who won't disappear from work as when they like). There should be a sole company that consolidates construction worker groups such as tekhdars, bijauli wala, marble wala, everyone. See what I mean? Instead of having to take on the unnecessary burden of looking for good ones yourself, you can just call up a company. Tada! Done. How's my idea! Lol.

Lol.... I didn't see the part where you said for those "technologically savvy." Open up tech companies? Become the next Google of Nepal, like Baidu of China. Or, the next Amazon, eBay. Sell an idea. But I think Nepal still has a long way to go technology-wise. ЁЯШП Nonetheless, you can trying sticking it out, hope for the best, and become a tech giant monopoly if your company takes off, as is the case with most companies with pioneering ideas. Teehee.

You can invest in education sector specially technological education. Get some affiliation from the renowned foreign university and build a school of technology. Nepal lacks good technology schools and many students are going aboard.

If you are as technologically savvy as you claim to be (wink wink) you should be able to use technology in any field. In fact, all those billionaire's (gates, ellison, zuckerberg, musk etc..) used technology in already established so called non technical field and that's how they made their MULLA. So go into the field that has the highest potential, it doesn't matter what field. Having said that, since we are living in a democratic society, we have to honor the majority too.

So here it goes (according to the sajha users) in decreasing order........

1. Macha Palan
2. Bangur Palan
3. Kukhura Palan
4. Bakhra Palan
5. Tarkari Kheti
6. And finally jerryswari ko mithai pasal

Wish u all the best !

Good teachers, especially in the tech world, are few and far between, in Nepal.

Jerryswari bro/sis,
Back in Nepal, I thought starting a business was meant for making money anyhow. Providing a specific idea could be quite difficult. But now I believe that you have to provide something of value to the paying customer that the market or competitor is not able to. If you can do that, it will sustain your business venture with ease.
Instead,if you try to do exactly, what businessmen like Tom, Dick, or Harry are already doing, your business could prove to be very risky. I also set forth a disclaimer here, I do not have hands on business experience. But if you have time and money at hand then you could start with a product or service that people would find it really useful and the market is somehow ignorant of. If you could fill that gap in demand, people would be more than willing to pay you for what you provide. Jack Ma says there is opportunity in every customer complaint. Go study the market, start traveling around, you might discover just the calling you have always wanted, subconsciously .

I know this is too generic.

Not sure now, things might have changed from what I saw in olden days! But I believe they will be competitors. There used to be some highly successful business that were prevailed:
1) business of Gundagardi
One or another great god like political leaders should be super ceos of the business. Have other competitors out of sight at the time of bidding the contract. Enjoy weekly amounts from restaurants and other businesses and force them to be more corrupt.

2) business of recruiting public offices and Bhansars

No worries, there used to be god like and above god leaders. Collect hefty amount from the candidates share with the godz like leaders and corrupt gov officers and ask the recruit to loot the public funds and general public wherever and whenever possible.

3) business of politics and power

Be one of the godz leader. Keep around Bhakta Jans who would collect bhetis from public budgets and other general bhaktas with the might of Godz. Announce an andolan: if bhakta dies, assure lacs or crore to the family and let as many bhaktaz go to heaven and U enjoy the business of politics and power as one of the godz.....

The sense of not having a good business idea gives me sleepless nights as well. I have yet to come up with an idea but my friend used to tell me that we can copy ideas from US to import in Nepal. Some flops are below:

Ride Share: We all know this has a HUGE potential, probably when Motorbike ride shares are also taken into account. But the unavailability of geo location & mappings, expensive rackspace to run the app, server licensing & maintenance costs will deep this venture highly impossible in current state.
Coin Operated Laundromat: Water? Electricity? Not sure if culture will also play as an impediment.
Butcher Shop: Refrigeration is a problem therefore CC cameras broadcasting live feed from Chyangra Warehouse (temperature controlled with feeders etc) with small chips in Bacon's ear, Goat's ear that provides the web feed (to the consumers) vital but brief statistics on state of each inventory (age, weight, gender, lean/fat proportion etc). They order by phone and come pick fresh meat.
Payment Technology: Android App and Merchant Point of Sale Machines are expensive and already provided by conventional banks to established businesses. I am thinking something like utilizing NFC with session tokens that will make direct payment into shopkeeper's account via Android Phone. The target consumers are the real small shopkeepers that run business on cash alone and have to deposit money in a conventional bank at the end of the day. A proprietary cash token (like Amazon Coins or Facebook Coins) is generated when the consumer uses an Installed Kiosk (work with Seaga for that) or goes to a Sahakari Bank (this will be cheaper route than to go with an A grade Bank). That is consumer pays NRS 1000 gets 1000 Coins (no cost to consumer). They take DhanaLaxmi Cash Point 1000 and pay for Bananas and Smoothies at Maila Dai Fruit Shop using NFC with session token. Maila Dai comes to Kiosk (limit below NRS 5000) or comes to Sahakari Bank Location that is opened late (to exchange cash). He can choose to keep cash in Sahakari Bank but since small businesses need cash on a daily basis this may help.

Please comment and refine. I think most of these ideas are a flop but ideas nonetheless.
