I have always been fond of cooking. I have a decent paying job here in the US but I am already sick of over-hyped american life (it's just my opinion).

I want to go back to Nepal and start my own stuff. I have a plan of starting own restaurant. I do not have relevant degree but have good cooking skill. Can also go to some cooking school in Thailand after I move back home.

I have a question to fellow Sajhaites about the tentative startup cost for a decent restaurant, including a bar, in Kathmandu. The restaurant will offer North Indian/ Nepali/ american/ and continental foods/dishes. If anyone has an idea please share.

Cooking sounds great, but managing a restaurant (business) is an entirely different beast. Getting some insights into business management, finance, market study, and other aspects of hospitality industry etc could help you a lot before you plunge into your thing.

If you do start a restaurant, serve more food, please.
Last time I went to Nepal, we went to several restaurants, but the quantity of food (even though the menu price was competitive) was less.
If you serve dinner, it should be enough for one person to feel not hungry.
