Hello guys, I am graduating in few days. I am graduating with computer science. I have A+ in all the computer classes. I feel confident about the computer. Now its time to join a consultancy. I am thinking of joining QA or programming. My main question here is that  I am always nervous with people around or nervous when i am the center of conversation. I have always felt in my recent job in gas station where i find hard dealing with customers. I am trying to catch the field where I dont need to deal with too many people. Which of these two fields you guys would say would fit for somebody who is shy in nature. Please if you guys can throw some serious suggestions.

If you are Aplus student in cs, why don't you apply yourself first. Give yourself about 3 months first and then join consultancy. You should go for programming.

Usually people are shy when meeting new people. But there is a limit of shyness. Shyness becomes awkwardness and your behavior seems uncomfortable to other people when you become too shy. Therefore, you need to control your shyness and build up confidence. Shyness will not take you far in this competitive world. So, throw away the shyness and start building strong confidence. There is a technology of consciousness where you can boost your confidence level. Shyness is just a state of your mind where you think you are shy! Always remember, thoughts create reality. In other words, you live your thoughts. It is just a psychological conditioning; hence, it is illusory. It is like a mirage. The moment you take charge of your mind, you become an emperor of emperors! The moment you think you are shy, you become shy. Therefore, give up this thought and bring powerful thoughts which is more positive for you. Also, practice meditation and pranayama: this will help boost your self-esteem. Best wishes.

@UJl thank you for the response. I will certainly try meditation. I just panic when I start talking with people around. I am graduating with D in my public speaking. I have been trying hard but does not work. My friends think I should go and see a psychologist but I dont want to have my life dependent on medicine. I think, when it happens every-time,  it gives a negative vibe. So I am just thinking maybe I should join something that has to deal with people at the least. I  know it sounds crazy but I think I might want to try out this first. So between QA and programming which has to deal with people at least. Would appreciate any suggestion.

Agree with Ujl on meditation recommendation.

As for shyness, if you run away from it then you will have hard time in your life. You cannot keep avoiding things, trust me. So try to work on your shyness and lack of confidence. When you do try meditation, don't expect it to cure everything in a month or two and don't expect anything out of it.

karma 98 when you search full time can we come up with same resume that the consulting agency makes. How do we depict that. Just like  you and balatkari_gunday was saying I can go ahead and apply for full time but my question is how an individual like us can do it.

Make a beginner'S resume with college project work and you can make one hypothetical project as an intern work, but you should be able to back it up with reasoning as with what you did and where you did it. Aatnu parchha ( lesson learned for me...jo dare gays yo mart gaya).

As you are CS major, you definitely have to go for programming. I have seen people from business doing programming after few month training, so you can obviously handle it.
Now a days every employer is looking for good communication skills as key requirement. Communication is very important. However as a developer you dont have to do alot of communation as other fields like marketing.  ( depends on the company though. Some company have meetings everyday). As long as you finish your task on time, no body cares about how you talk.
In the mean time you can improve your public speaking skills. You can do few things which are scientifically proved to work:
1. record yourself on camera and practice reading a page loud ( as loud as you can). Watch the video and you will find your weakness yourself. improve on it next time.
2. prepare short poem or story and recite infront of friend or family standing not sitting.
3. watch english TV series like Big Bang Theory, etc
4. be confident about yourself.

I just have a question here. Some of my friends telling me to go ahead and make resume like desi consultancy but they are not able to explain how things will work out when the employer verifies about it. I am just skeptical about this process. If somebody have some insight about this process and could explain that would be some help. By the way I am a green card holder so I dont really have to worry about the sponsorship.

u are computer majour. You can easily find entry level job with a good money. Don't risk by putting fake experience. They can easily verify it . Also nowadays with media like linked in it is very easy to find your experience is real or not.

Harry butt, thanks for bringing it out there because I do feel programming has lot more scope than QA like everybody here is saying. I am thinking of going in for programming but just want to see the pros and cons before diving in.  @Karma 98, I will keep your suggestion in my mind.

Guys I have been accepted in one place for two year train and work as a programmer but funny thing they only pay 20 bucks an hour. Dont you think this is low money and same time a long term to work for dollar 20 an hour. I am also not from computer background so do you think it is a worth going for somebody without a experience.

Pros:
1. Jump start you career with extra 5 years of experience. It will take extra 5 years to make same amount of money going from entry level.
2. u'll make more money

Cons:
1. rate of getting fired increases exponentially
2. you cannot go fulltime with the same resume. going fulltime u'll need it genuine.
3. more work load right away
