Normally It is saturday, few being on thursday and even monday (friday, and sunday too) . But once NFL regular season starts no big games would be on thursday night, and monday night football, few are exceptions though...

Guys i am really new to College Football. I though am interested in Pickem College 2011 this year> There are some questions from my Side>> 1)I am really confused about different Bowls they hold like cotton Bowl, National and all that, I really don't get into it,  2) and what  about the ranking they have. Do they change it as the game is in progress and the quality each university plays or, they change the ranking next year after all the games are done for this season.  I know Florida Gators, Alabama, and OU is better teams for me.  I support OU..  please enlighten me with some Bulleted questions. walkahead and anyone new to college football... Welcome , its a whole new world, its no NFL........... some comparison of NFL and College football 1.teams: NFL 32 -AFC and NFC , 4 subdivision in each, so, 4 in each team;    College: 120 Div I teams, 11 conference and 3 independent teams 2. Schedule: NFL : 16 games in s17 weeks, 3 games played both home and away....and bla bla.......   11-12 games: some conference have sub division where they play all of their subdivision , few other side, and few chosen by them may or maynot be div I. No games played twice. Home and away rule is every alternate year. 3. In NFL, post season is more interesting while in college regular season is more interesting.. 4. Ranking: this is what makes college football interesting, different, weird.....than NFL. AP/ coaches/..publish preseason ranking. But BCS publishes sometime 6-7 weeks later in regular season. Every week ranking is changed based on win lose.  5. post season: playoff in NFL, but there is no playoff in college. Thbats why some people say the college champs are not true champs.and bla bla, there is whole lot of discusion on this. but basically there are 35 post season games which are called bowl games. 5 of them are BCS bowls 1 being the national championship. The national championship game is played between 1, 2 ranked team while other bowls have ties to certain conference at least one team. So, mostly 3,4 ...7,8 ranked team fell that they left out from title competition ....bla bla...There is only one post season game for 70 teams...(35 bowls) Thats why only few post season games attract interest including National champ. 6. A scenario on last season, There were 5 undefeated team on the end of regular season and only two Alabama, texas played national champ...and it draws controversy 7. As ESPN says every Saturday can change season, u have to win all games if you want to play national champ. (there are some exceptions though), sometimes 1 loss team from big conference like SEC can make it to final, (even two loss, 2007 LSU).  not like in NFL you go 9-7, 8-8 and even make post season.. 8. Rivalry and players emotion is greater in college football then in NFL... 9. there is some difference in rules too.. clock rules  extra time rule, Both team gets one chance to score not like in NFL, sudden death.. (NFL changed this rule for post season this year right??) The schedule and initial ranking makes a whole lot difference in college football.   I guess I answered some question, let us know if there are any more queries... and ya college football fans correct me if i am wrong in any above points.... and as u said u know alabama, florida , OU...there are some buzz teams in college football, the writers just love them....I will be surprised if you dont know Notre Dame.......

obama,  ya some always overrated teams, ohio, virginia tech, lets see how good they will do. I really want VT to beat boise state otherwise there will be again a lot talk aboput undefeated boise vs 1 loss SEC/big12 etc... about georgia/ florida, I think georgia is equally good good but main thing is quarterback, florida quater back has played many times and proven to be good but georgia, quarterback .......dont know lets see, waiting for a rocking season

I guess this season will again be SEC Vs Someone Else. but I am happy that non-BCS teams like Boise are getting more attention and bigger playing stage. If they are good enough, of course they should be in BCS Bowl.  Last season was lot of fun, hope y'all will have great fun again.  Unfortunately I won't be joining this year, my current situation won't allow me to follow and keep up with both College Football and NFL :( Good luck to y'all !!

bhikhari,  I am sorry that  your team did not make the list. But there are about 70 games each week, which is harder for uploading and even for the ones who pick them. Most of the people are following only ranked teams, Thats why I have only ranked teams in the team. As last year, the preceding year, I will continue to use AP 25 until BCS publishes their ranking.  Thank you for concern, but this is near impossible to have all the games.

auburn tigers look good guys good luck.....  still 1 major game remaining which can shake up the things So, what we (I) learned from week 1 1. Alabama is solid, nothing against it 2. some teams those played as expected: Ohio, arkansas, auburn, oregon, texas, florida state etc overrated: (who disappointed) Pittsburgh, LSU, Ole miss, Florida, Cincinnati, kansas, oklahoma, underrated: oklahoma state, Georgia, TCU , (should I say jax state), Some thoughts: I am not telling this because I am georgia fan, but imagine UGA when AJ green and ealey are back imagine, if it was not Miami (ohio) playing at florida swamp. imagine, UNC had all their players. this year the college football world does not have 3 quarterbacks that media love but plety of good quarterbacks although USC won, loot at their defense... Notre dame looks good again ok  guys are you ready for BSU/VT , I am ...I am even in maryland guys..

What do you say about VTech vs Boise State game last night? Well it was a wild yet excellent game! VT has had troubles beating top-five ranked teams and Hokies have never won a game that they trailed by 15 points but yesterday they overcame a 17 point deficit and almost beat third seeded Boise State. After a shaky start Hokies roared back and had the game in their hands. I am not happy with VT defensive coach Bud Foster's defense at the very end but they went toe-to-toe with one of the best offenses in college football.  After Boise State's win yesterday, it is still hard to say if the Broncos deserve to play in the BCS title game. It's too early to declare on that however they sure did prove people right in yesterday's game. Not to forget it took VT committing fumble, blocked punt, and kickoff go out of bounds for Boise State to clinch 17-0 lead in the first quarter.  And Boise State schedule in which they will be heavily favored might eventually shatter their dream to play in the BCS Championship.  Last edited: 07-Sep-10 04:19 PM

Last night's game was an example of college football at its best. Both team played hard. VT defence and special team sucked badly. They gave Kellen Moore easy first downs in last drive. And Boise proved the hype right. Blues will be talk of the season for sure. I hope alabama and ohio state don't loose any  match-ups and hope to see them in National championship.

yes one of the best game, very dramatic in 4th quarter. thats why we are excited about college football. Now, here comes a long discussion,  in my view, there will not be any UNDEFEATED team in 6 major conferences this year, so, SEC vs Boise state .....I want boise state in National champ if they win all just to test them, in any circumstance the BCS system do not choose the true one, few are always left out, so, why don we give them some chance I will come up with next schedule, sometime tomorrow

Ok guys schedule is up. Actually I was waiting for ranking to come and BSU/VT game to finish before I get to schedule. And was travelling after ranking was up. Carolina what a great week, and also many other games that do not make the list and are very good games.  some upset alerts I am picking, Miami over Ohio and Florida State over Oklahoma some upset alerts I am not buying into...S. Florida over Florida, Mississippi state over Auburn, Iowa state over Iowa, UCLA over stanford, what about Michigan/Notre Dame ,  and yes Whoever wins S. carolina/Georgia will not be upset but Georgia will win:)

Yes..Tigers survived with very sincere defense..however, Eagles are not weak as it was reflected yesterday. Fannin and Ziemba were badly injured yesterday and Burns was left alone as a RB and wide receiver...and on top of that special team did couple of blunders... Obama In last season, we beat WV in home game. Our guys sucked big time with Arkansas and surprisingly they lost terribly to WV, the same season in SEC game. Now you tell me how unpredictable/doable the things are? Weak 4 is up now, monster saturday, bloody saturday..now what, i wil say Who-is-who saturday after this week, we will probably have idea about which team are legitimate contenders and which are fakers #1 Alabama@#10 Arkansas #12 S. carolina @#17 Auburn #22 West virginia@#15 LSU can #24 Oregon State end the hope of #3 Broncos? this will give who is where in SEC, till now seems like Oregon, Ohio State and Alabama are legit candidates and Ohio is looking for Alabama to lose , so that they wont face SEc in national champ some other games of interest:  virginia tech vs Boston, may not be for national light but for ACC can UCLA get the energy again this week to upset Texas? can Georgia now have at least 5 winstreaks starting against Mississippi state #5 Oregon again stacking lots of score on Arizona State? if Alabama, Ohio, Oregon, TCU and Boise state are unbeaten which will be the 2nd team for championship. (first will be Alabama for sure, Oregon or Ohio?, i think they will again play TCU and Boise State on Fiesta Bowl)

gamea to watch for this week 19 Miami at Pittsburgh -- this might be a upset. Miami doesn't play good away game. I love Harries, he can throw those long passes, he is one of the QB to lead with higest no of passes over 20 yards, but he gives more interceptiosn than anyother QBs too. 20 USC at Washington state -- USC is good. WS alwys gives a good fight at home. but i think USC will pull this off. 1 Alabama at 10 Arkansas -- I wish Arkansas win this. I love Nick Saban, he is a very decent coach, nut i don't like the hipe alabama is getting. Its hard for Arkansas to stop Alabama offenes, especially their running game. But then Arkansas can benifit from Alabama inexpericed defense. Will be the biggest upset for the week. UCLA at 7 Texas -- don't mind if UCLA pulled this off. Boise will do everything. I think this is the GAME Of the week. Don't know how brothers from Oregon will do. I love Boise State filed - all blue......... West vergina at 15 LSU -- LSU will win, but think they have a easy task. 5 Oregon at Arizona State-- I want to see the Oregon offense vs Arizona State defense. Lets see how much Oregon puts this time on board. their avegare in three games is 63. BUT don't underestimate the Arizona State team. 8 Oklahoma at Cincinati -- Offcourse Oklahoma. but believe me Cincinati has great offense. this team was build by Kelly. Being the no. 1 is tough...lot of haters out there. Last year, i was one of them in bandwagon to hate florida (they were one of the greatest college football team). Being BAMA fan, beating them in SEC and winning NC was so awesome. USC loosing to WSU? What a joke. WSU is playing hardly better than a high-school team this year. The only game they won this year was a close one against a FCS school and had one win last yr. I think this week games, defines, who will play NC game. however, this is just not only the factor. If you all remmember 2008 season, where OU went to play NC game, beating Longhorns in all polls, although longhorn won that season with OU. There are so many teams playing this week aganist each other ranking teams that its hatrd to predict. No doubt, OU vs. TEXAS is the game of the week. Will be close game, both are not playing to their standards. But if TEXAS lose, they are out of the picture for NC game. My upset prediction are Clemson over no.16 Maima; Well, I would not consider this upset, But VT might(grt possibility) beat no.25 North Carolina State. And, if history repeats itself, then OU should win this game. In last six years, LongHorns has won 4 games and lost 2 games with OU. Everytime they lost with OU, they have lost in the previous week.I think, the game will be OU offense vs TEXAS defense. Stanfford (9) vs no.4 oregon will b fun to watch. Oregon has the real test of the season, While Stanffford past it last week by beating ND. And finally, I think no.1 Alabama will crush Florida(7). there is no way Florida will win this game, if they played, the way they have beeng playing this season. But, Florida is improving real fast, and Urban knows how to win games, no matter how the team plays in first 3 quaters.

How can Ealey assume that he was down and not approach to recover a ball in goal line,  I guess VT will defeat NC state What about Alabama and Florida, I know except for Florida fans, everyone is picking Alabama, but can we also predict Score? Over/Under for me, Florida beats Alabama by 9 (28-19)(don't laugh) or whoever wins combined score will not be more than 50. Until half score is something like 7-6..or 10-7..10-3..(just 3 scores)

Obama, I guess it was 2005, Florida lost to Alabama, in 2006 Florida beat alabama in Gainesville but lost to Auburn but were ultimate champions.  I know, I am (and few gator fans) are the only predicting Fklorida win, and that makes sense too not picking Florida, but upset happens, and as Stupida said, Urban Meyer knows how to win and that is true for Nick Saban too. The key is I guess who starts fast, .. Some key factors determining winloss are: 1. Can Florida stop Ingram-richardson 2. Can Florida continue interceptions,  3. How trey Borton will be utilized, again, Alabama D is not Kentucky, they will not let same play repeat for 5 times. 4. How Brantley/McElory can drive final minutes in fourth quarter. 5. Jeff demps health 6. Special Team, Special team, Special Team..

LSU vs. Tennesse was the ultimate boiling point of college football. How long Les Miles can stay there as head coach?? I wonder....  Oklahoma survived the fumble and finally gave some pay back to horns. Denard Robinson is just awesome QB. Good .......  Michigan found sombody to count on.  Oregon came back and showed their offence and defence all at same time. Well...what to say abt Bama vs. Gators??? Bama may see Gators in Atlanta again. And...washington beat USC again. Good for Lane Kiffin. Georgia went 1-4 even after A. J. Green returned to the team. Mark Ritch will be gone...i just fear they might offer Kirby Smart (Alabama defensive co-ordinator) head coach position. After all, Georgia is his alma mater. For coming week, Gators would beat tigers. Michigan should beat Michigan state. Bama will be starting the toughest schedule...playing against 6 SEC foes having bye-week before Alabama game. I wonder, Iron Bowl is shaping up as a real SEC championship.....

I am not a heck of LSU fan but was happy to see you guys' reaction. There are other good teams like Alabama and Florida. I know both Alabama and Florida are very good teams and still think one of them (most probably Alabama) have a chance to go to the championship game (though Auburn and LSU are the biggest obstacles), do not underestimate other teams. well BCS is always a mind boggling ranking system and pretty unpredictable but some conferences are favored highly than others by the computers , so no surprise that we have a big 12 team leading the rankings, but as the history have shown, its more likely to change in the coming weeks i think the TIGERS (LSU/Auburn) in SEC will be defeated sooner or later , no body stays unblemished in that confrence, personally I will like LSU to lose this time, and Auburn Tigers to lose with Alabama for the conference finals , and big ten title is also up for grab, i dont think there are any serious championship contenders as well no matter what they do, Boise state and Utah wont climb much on the BCS rankings Mizzou will be looking for the revenge of last year's matchup with OU, but wont succeed , Nebrasaka will taste another bitter token of farewell by OSU Cowboys !!!! If LSU teams was like one in 2008, I would have though of that rare possibility too (what LSU tiger is saying) BUT This is 2010 and War damn eagle has changed to WAR CAM EAGLE! I probably said florida was overrated in first few weeks.  The reason i am saying Oklahoma overrated is because, it has not tested yet, we will see this week although Missouri is in same category.  And By the way, That was my view, your view might differ. LSU@Auburn Should be damn good game, lets see how les miles manages clock in last minutes.  Auburn is very bad at passing defense and LSu does not has good quarterback, So, Auburn should be fine in this game, althogh Newton might be stopped by LSu defense Good luck guys..

Week 9 is up, and make the pick earlier, because BSU game is Tomorrow (Tuesday) Well this week #1 curse may not be for Auburn but for Oregon as they are playing away game in USC. Mississippi is down this year, so I dont expect Auburn to be down, They have to wait for Alabama. shivanagar bro, i dont think florida and georgia matchup is of that importance now, unless u go to one of those colleges , which i think u do, lets not disclose which one ..... i mean they enjoyed a spotlight couple of years, but this year SEC is more about LSU, Auburn and Alabama ...., i didnot like the way Auburn jumped to No. 1 , skipping Oregon, coz  the Ducks also had an impressive win, the way their offense executed the play with all those mysterious sign calls was wonderful and flawless,   hopefully they will prove it again at Southern Cal, nebraska and mizzouri matchup will be a good one, coz one of them will establish itself as a big 12 championship contender from north and prolly if mizzou wins, can aim for higher BCS rankings. anyways we will enjoy the matchups ........

big green tractor,  I agree Auburn is more refined now. But see how the passing game is going and also other factors like secondary.....If somebody could stop running game they are in trouble...and Alabama can do that, I think.....I dought georgia can do that as Lattimore singlehandedly beat them previously but like Arkansas game Georgia may score some on passing id they got disciplione and good call and still lose. Dhwase, I agree. Georgia / Florida is not that important this year but as u suggested for those who go to that school......and again Some good rivalries are always there no matter how much they are down or up...by the way, one of them can still win SEC east and block the West teams road to championship game...lol

We have a game tomorrow. So, be sure to pick that up as early as possible.  Few good games this week,  No. 15 Arizona at No. 13 Stanford No. 6 Alabama at No. 10 LSU No. 18 Arkansas at No. 19 South Carolina No. 3 TCU at No. 5 Utah No. 21 Baylor at No. 17 Oklahoma State My only upset pick is clemson over NC state. Obama, seroisly I dont see anyone beating Oregon in regular season this year, may be 7-1 arizona can give some fight rather than 3-5, 4-4, or 5-3 teams. But as u said upset happens and In state rivalry is even bigger. TCU shoud win Utah, but still be ranked lower than Auburn, I guess. Alabama, by the way can pass Boise by beating LSU. So, Oregon, (Auburn, TCU), Alabama, Boise may be next BCS top 5. And I have Alabama beating Auburn on last regular seaon, and winning Florida for SEC champ. There is a problem, Oregon , followed by who? TCU or Alabama??

collegefootball rocks, why u r so mad dude.....everybody is entitled to their opinion. I may not agree with yr view and vice versa but respecting others views is not a bad idea. LSU outplayed Bama this time. So what??? SEC west is most competitive sub-division on NCAA football. Its not Pac-10 where a team can rule for 10 straight years....Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Arkansas have been fighting for supremacy of SEC west for years. Florida, Georgia and Tennesse for SEC east  in similar manner. Bama fans have a lot more to cheer about to what their fottball program has accomplished over-time. If u cannot make it to national champioship from SEC, your season is bust anyway.... If Beating Bama is yr biggest goal for the season than u have it man....enjoy  !!! for me... if u are not first u r last.... Bama fans don't support Auburn .....But go Auburn.....win the national championship....keep SEC supreme...
